The Soul Reaver - Dark Eldar Expansion in FFG's Rogue Trader RPG

I won't buy it for RT. However, I'll be happy to adapt it to Black Crusade, if possible.

Amazon emailed me yesterday to say that their estimated arrival date had changed from the 19th October to 4th September.

It's out now and I got myself a copy. The story is about the players helping a deposed Archon claim back her holdings on a Dark Eldar outpost built onto an ancient Dark Age of Technology space station (think Death Star without the hyperlaser) byt stealing the titular ship her rival is using to power the station's defence network.

The campaign is nice and I'll definetly try to run it to my group, but of course the thing that interests us the most is the fluff and rules for Dark Eldar. It has rules for nearly every unit in the codex; only things missing are Mandrakes and Incubi (both already found in the Black Crusade core rulebook), Talos and Voidraven. Included are also plenty of DE weapons, including splinter weapons, darklight weapons, hexrifles (which are nasty) and two different kinds of agonizers (the new whip and the oldschool claws). And of course, you can now play as a Kabalite Warrior (or a Trueborn, if you use some of your starting xp for the perk. Sadly it doesn't seem to gives you easier access to blasters, but it does allow you to buy fellowship upgrades for cheap). They seem quite powerful, especially with pain tokens (you get pain tokens form various things, usually watching something die or suffer, and they act like temporary fate points you can use for rerolls. At higher ranks, you can spend multiple pain tokens to get temporary boosts, like doubling your strenght, getting extra attacks or becoming near immune to injury).

The fluff is mostly the stuff we know, but there are a few coll tidbits. It confirms that the Dark Eldar have various ways to supress the powers of any psykers they capture, and gives us some insights into DE culture. Like that the DE language is a separate dialect from Eldar (DE players begin knowing both) notable for the sheer variety of words describing pain and fear, or that they consider murder the most intimate form of cantact two beings can share. It also has the mention in the codex that combat drugs reduce the users lifespan reflected in the rules (using them gets you corruption points, and too much corruption increases the amount of pain tokens you need to get fate points. However, there's also a talent that increase the range you can get tokens from based on your corruption).

So Nomic, worth getting? I'd read mixed reports on the adventure itself, and seen scans of the amazing Kabalite Warrior career. At the moment it is the first thing I will be getting once my student loan comes through... but wondered what your thoughts on the actual structure of the adventure are? Otherwise I need to be planing for my next session with my Rogue Trader group next term (I GM of course).

Haven't had a chanse to run it yet (I'll adapt it to our Black Crusade group after we've finished the Hands of Corruption book). I'd say for a DE player the adventure is worth getting just for all the cool DE stuff alone (if you ever want to use DE in your games, eighter as PCs or as enemies, this book is a must have).

The adventure seemed pretty interesting, altough some players might not like the fact the end of the 1st chapter is railroaded (you will end up being captured and forced to fight in the arena. Altough I felt the arena fights seemed like pretty fun, many players don't like being forced to do anything).

FFG's website now has for free a pdf containing extra Dark Eldar stuff! It has rules for a Wytch class, as well as 3 alternative career ranks eighter class can take: Skyterror (ie. Hellion or Reaver pilot), Fleshcrafter and Incubus Initiate.
