GAH! Your paint table is making me have fits trying to figure out what is what on the WIPs! I know I know, beggars can't be choosers. I think it has more to do with the grey, the black and the white.


No worries though, the final pictures are clear as can be.

So, the hellions look pretty darn good and the positioning of the weapons does he;lp lend itself to a aggressive feel.

Yikes! Hadn't thought about that. The WIP background shot looks like my paint desk: a train wreck! I'll fix that for the next round to preserve your sanity

I really love this colour scheme. And i really love Helion models. So this is pretty Epic! Glad you got them done in time heh. For stage 3, i for one will be starting alot sooner than this time!

Those blue stones really added finished look to those Helions, like em a lot.

All I can say is - dem hellions. I love the contrast between the board and the riders themselves, draws the sight on the board itself long enough so the pale riders can get close enough to lop off the heads of the gawking enemies. Really nice.

I think what I love most about your stuff (all of it, not just these guys) is the contrast between the purple and the metallics, it's a brilliantly subtle brassy kind of colour, once again I'm blown away by one of your squads, no wonder you got best army at that tournament!

When your finished with your painting-foo, can I borrow your skills for say....forever >

Amazing job ESE and have to agree with the others, your choice of colours and techniques are amazing and looking forward to seeing the rest of your entry's in the Challenge.

Thanks for the complement! The brassy color is stolen from the Cryx method: P3 Blighted Gold, washed with thinned P3 Coal Black and Devlan Mud, highlighted with P3 Brass Balls, final highlight with a jar of Shining Gold from the original Citadel Color set. No joke, that jar of paint is 20 years old and has not gone bad! It's color is far closer to P3's Radiant Platinum than the current version of Shining Gold.

Oh i love the original paints, I've got 20 year old pots of rotting flesh and tentacle pink, and I only replaced the goblin green last year cos i cracked the lid.
