Filling gaps on shoulder pads and the like - how do I do it?

Hey there,

I finally found the time to start working on my Dark Eldar force for real and I've stumbled over one thing: how the hell do I fill those gaps between the two halves of shouulder pads? How do I fill those on the neck guards of the warriors? Do you guys even do it?
I've tried filling them fith super glue and/or the new liquid green stuff, but it is super tiresome and not really clean. Any tips?

I just don't bother most of the time, unless it is a centrepiece model, I use polycement. It takes roughly an hour to dry fully, but it melts the plastic together and makes it look more professional. In some cases though, I have found gaps of a few milimetres, making this method completely useless.

I fill mine with Liquid Greenstuff. A big dob in the main crack to start then when that's dried just layer up with thin layers until its gone. Takes some time but looks great.

No problems with liquid green stuff here, as the gaps are so small you can use it very thin. Remember you can sand down green stuff once it has dried for an even smoother finish or just use a very sharp blade to cut away excess material. I am freakishly obsessed with mold lines, gaps and such so I hate the split pauldrons/shoulder pads with a passion! I did nit ever need to do anything near the neck line, snaps shut like a glove with me.

Yes, I've been using Liquid Green Stuff now, too, and it works wonders if applied thinly enough. The only thing that still bothers me is the difference in... elevation? Can I say that? Like, that the two halves of the split shoulder pads come together at slightly different levels, not leaving a gap, but an edge. I'd have to cover the lower half entirely with putty and then sand everything down to one level. Am I making sense?
I was already thinking of removing the tiny spikes and blades on the shoulder pads and sanding everything smooth, but that can't have been the idea of the designers.

Yup perfect sense, rather have gaps than level difference as the latter is harder to fix IMO. Because the plastic is so thin you can't cut the protruding top away or you end up with a hole instead of a pad.

The way you manage it (filling up the lowest part) is really the best option. But yeah it's easier on the empty pads, the spiked ones are much more annoying.

Wyches seem to fit a lot better, but they only got one shoulderpad, with Kabbalite warriors some bodies halves fit better together than others. Try and dry-fit a few, I noticed some just don't fit that well whatever you do.
