500 pts for a major greenhorn

Hi fellow pain-bringers,

Just started collecting a DE army, bought an haemy and the codex so far, but since I'm the type that falls for every new great looking army out there, I think that I need to have a quite solid plan for my first 500 pts, for commitment purposes none the less. I stumbled upon this 500 pts list, so credits go to 'Szafraniec' for coming up with it.

I would like for you guys to comment on its strengths or weeknesses, and generally tell me if this would be a good start for a new DE army.

Enough introduction, here goes:

HQ:

Haemonculus w/Liquifier Gun - 60

Troops:

9x Wyches; Hydra Gauntlet x1, Haywire Grenades, Hekatrix w/Agoniser; Raider w/Dark Lance - 208

5x Warriors; Blaster; Venom w/Splinter Cannon – 125

Heavy Support:

Ravager – 105

Total: 498

Pretty solid. May consider using a different Wyche weapon or dropping it altogether for Flicker Field on the Ravager. Could also drop two Wyches, get flicker Field Field on Both the Ravager and the Raider. You would probably do that if you planned moving up to 12" and shooting with the Raider instead of moving 24" and picking up a cover save. Note that you may have to split the Wyches and the Haemonculus when you launch your Raider assault because he doesn't have fleet, which would reduce your maximum assault distance.

Also keep in mind that 6th edition is about to release.

I'd swap hydra gauntlet for any other special weapon - shardnet against armies with multiple attacks per model, razorflails for the rest.
Flickerfield for Ravager is a must.

not sure if you need that many wyches - maybe less in a venom instead of a raider? which would allow dual splinter cannons on each venom

and as stated above - I'd reconsider the HQ choice - Succubus would do better with Wyches.

the haemie is fine, its to give the wyches FNP

Drop the WW and put flickerfields on the ravager, that is about it

all in all, i think its a good list, only you NEED those flicker fields for the vehicles. Realy there is nothing else to do than getting those invuls on to the vehicles.

WW = Wych Weapon

Also I doubt he needs a flickerfield on the raider. With an Assault boat T1 is his most likely going flat out, which the 4+ is superior to the 5++. After delivery of the wych payload it is true that the flickerfield is superior, but at 500 pts I doubt there will be much to shoot down the raider after a few turns anyway.
