| That was a shock to me when I first realized it, and pushed me towards an even bigger squad of RJBs to tell the truth. However, I think the HoW is really going to shine once you get into the thick of things, and have the ability to hit and run. Pop and and dive back in/sweep to the next opponent w/12" or so. After that first assault is where it will really shine.
Also another advantage to Baron with RJBs I'm thinking. To slingshot a weak squad if possible.

| well, we have some advantages over jump infantry
Jump packs let you either move 12", or get a re-rollable 2d6 (so you have to re-roll both) charge w/ Hammer of Wrath attacks
We, though, have fleet.
So we can move 12", and re-roll either 1 dice or both dice for charge. Not too shabby imho. also when adding in the shooting potential of hellions, I think that we will be fast and hit hard. Well makes up for not getting hammer of wrath attacks

| ^ Good point, plus if you're close enough you could just move normally in the movement phase and still get hammer of wrath in the assault phase. It's about choice, which we have and other races don't. | |

| Assault squads got a pretty decent little boost, me thinks. I used to run one in my Black Templars army against all sound reason simply because they were fun to use and required careful movement to get any mileage out of them. Very easy to get too aggressive with them and lose the whole squad, so I tended to play conservatively with mine and use them to pounce on stuff that got too close to my fire support units.
Now assault squads are a whole new animal. Hammer of Wrath, and frag grenades adds a significant bit of extra punch to a carefully planned assault. Storm shield models along with an attached character can make them much more difficult to destroy during shooting if you place the models right and use "Look Out Sir" effectively.
However, I think the meltabomb change is the biggest boon to the unit. With the new vehicle WS rules, you'll consistently destroy tanks with them, but the more importantly, they can now be used to smash dreads and monstrous creatures. Now it's like every single squad member has a chainfist for taking on big critters and vehicle units.

| One of the big things that came out of talking to people at the 40k open day on saturday was that they wanted the game to become more dynamic and stop the static gunlines, so giving assault units a boost like hammer of wrath, plus being able to shoot before assaulting and throwing grenades makes the whole thing more intuitive. Should an assault unit usually be hanging around waiting for the enemy? No. Should they be able to throw grenades? Yes. Should they be the foremost units in your battleline? Yes, probably. So, make some changes to make it more worthwhile using them in that way. | |

| @Arrex: i think you misposted. This is a DE forum, not a marine one I know its important to know what changes for our enemies, but this topic specifically is for US! *noms on a muffin - donuts were out | |

| I think reavers got a real boost this edition. I just put up a battle report for a game where I ran 27 of them and it worked out really well, obviously I need more games but out of the 3-4 that I have had so far it's looking really good. | |
