Why `Ello there. Just found this fantastic website. Just started 40k again about 2-3 months ago just in time for a rule-book change. I generally played cheese knights, I did so because of the fluff, and the fact that witch/daemon hunters were not quite so amazing 10ish years ago when I last played. So when I started playing again was quite surprised to find that they were played not for their fluff but for their winningness.

Anyways, always wanted to run a dark eldar army... I love their fluff, and they just seem like fun. Going to probably run two different armies one being a coven haemies/wracks/grotesques. The 2nd army will probably be a vehicle/transport army since I don't really run that with the grey knights.

Please forgive me if I don't understand your abbreviations I'm still learning. Is there a FAQ that lists them out? Specifically BRB, TEQ, and I think those two are the only ones that I cannot determine what they are even when used in proper context.

Well I've talked too much, and said too little.

G'day Azrael, glad you joined us here in our little haven from RL (real life)! Very Happy

DE are indeed a many-faceted army, each variation with its own unique and powerful character. It really is a lot of fun.

Re: 40K abbreviations, here's a few for you (although you probably know most of them already). You can often Google them, as they are a common question on most forums:

MEQ = Marine equivalent, other army's units with the same statline.
GEQ = Guardsman or Guardian equivalent units
TEQ = Terminator equivalent

DT = Dedicated Transport
FA = Fast Attack
HQ = Headquarters
HS = Heavy support

AV = armour values ( for vehicles)
BRB = Big Rule Book, the official 40K rulebook from GW
CC = Close Combat or Assault, can also be HTH (Hand-to-Hand)
CCW = Close Combat Weapon
IC = Independant Character, usually a HQ choice
KP = Kill Points
LOS = Line of Sight
MC = Monstrous creature
RAW = Rules As Written
RT = Rogue Trader, the first edition of Warhammer 40k
VP = Victory Points
WD = White Dwarf, GW's official magazine
WYSIWYG = what you see is what you get

Cheers.

That is fantastic. I was pretty sure BRB stood for something about rulebook but considering as the rulebook isn't brown I was confused. TEQ now makes sense context wise. Thank You.

Welcome to Commorragh, Azrael. Seeing as Gobsmakked has done a good job with the acronyms I won't bother repeating them.

Enjoy the Dark City, and I look forward to seeing what you have to contribute here.

Thank you. It'll be a little while before I'll truly be able contribute anything of use other than that of opinion as I need to get a couple of good games at the 500pt and 2000pt level before I get some good understanding of these new rules and how they've affected Dark Eldar. My personal opinion is that with everything that I've seen so far in the City I think we are the most willing to cope with the new rules changes and figure out new strategery(purposefully misspelled). Where as on other forums all I've seen so far is complaints with no real steps towards designing a new army, or new tactics for that matter. Also from what I've seen DE players are a little bit more stubborn that the average player, which is nice because that means strange tactics should abound as everyone refuses to let their idea go specifically WWP armies.

BRB= Big Red Book, or the 5th ed rulebook

BBB= Big Blue Book, or Big Black Book (4th and 3rd ed rulebook, and depends on who you talk to)

this one has just come out, so there hasnt been a moniker for it yet

Alrighty then, looks like my assumption was relatively correct. Considering that this one is Brown...
