First post here, but ive been lurking for a while now. i'm trying to make a kabal, and character, for a campaign my FLGS might be having. the world is called Taunsir IV, and all the races are after an important relic near the equator. I'm hoping you dark eldar vets will be able to help me sort things out with the backstory and character profile (each player will get to make up a special character to use as 'him'). comments and criticism are welcome. tips on naming my archon and his weapon are appreciated. all is subject to change depending on the feedback i get.
Kabal Details:
Kabal of the Reaping Blade, an off-shoot of the Black Heart Kabal. Their Archon, Sarkoth Vortoth, was a Trueborn in the Black Heart Kabal. Sarkoth displayed a strong tactical mind and ruthless streak, often advising the Dracon of his squad. He soon became a Dracon himself, and continued to show his tactical understanding and willingness to do whatever it takes to accomplish his goals. He excelled in surprise assaults, attacking when and where the enemy least expected.
Eventually, he caught the attention of Vect himself. Vect, seeing him as a useful tool, granted him a small force to begin his own Kabal, as well as a small section of High Commorragh to call his own. In exchange, Sarkoth acts as Vect's personal assassin and errand runner. When one of Vect's many enemies reveal themselves, he occasionally calls on the Reaping Blade to destroy them, as Vect is known to rarely dirty his own hands. When Vect wishes to obtain a certain object or person, he may send Sarkoth to fetch it for him. Being in the employ of Vect does come with a few benefits, protection being one of them. On the rare occasion that his Kabal and section of Commorragh comes under attack, the Black Heart Kabal often shows up to repel the invaders.
There are many theories why Vect does this. Some say that Sarkoth may be one of Vect's sons, being prepared to rule in the small chance that Vect falls. The more popular theory is that Sarkoth was recognized as a potential rival as well as a tool to be used. He was granted his own Kabal as a way to both use him and remove him as a potential threat.
Sarkoth is always accompanied by his Incubi guards, as even with the protection of the Black Heart Kabal, he is still just as paranoid as any other Archon. He carries the Soul Harvester, a wicked blade that draws out the very soul of its victims to rejuvenate its wielder, into battle. Sarkoth acquired this blade when a band of Mandrakes infiltrated his lair, killing most of his guards and nearly killing him as well.
When not doing Vect's bidding, Sarkoth's Kabal is like any other, and frequently launches raids on realspace. The Kabal of the Reaping Blade has a strong relationship with the Incubi Temples and Reaver bands, and as such frequently employs them in battle, the Incubi accompanying Sarkoth himself, while the Reavers launch hit and run attacks on their unsuspecting prey. Their ties to the Haemonculi Covens and Witch Cults, on the other hand, aren't as strong, so they rarely appear in the Kabal's realspace raids.
The Kabal of the Reaping Blade has recently been sent to the planet of Taunsir IV by Vect. Their is a relic on the planet he wants, and Sarkoth has been job of finding and capturing it. Sarkoth does not know why Vect wants it, nor does he really care. He relishes the chance to capture more slaves, and to increase his reputation and standing with Vect and Commorragh as a whole.
