Kabal of the Poisoned Thorn - Grotesques (now all done! 14/06/11)

So I saw the new Finecast grotesques and thier one pose and extortionate price and decided to make my own using IOB rat ogres and bits from the new talos kit here is the first painted one and some pics of the ones waiting to be painted.

I have 10 IoB-ogres and a Talos-helmet to each of them just waiting for the hobby-love to make me a whole unit as these.

Haven't seen any others with Talos parts yet, but be sure there will be more of them.

Those look amazing. How long was the conversion time?

Looking great. I had planned on doing something with the IOB rat orges before the Grotes were released, but could never manage to get hold of any. Future plans now are to combine talos bits with the Tomb Kings Sphecular (sp?) to make some new pain enginesque grotes.

Brilliant conversions. Excellent paint job, too. This will certainly be a nice looking unit

I really like where all of this is going. We need more Grotesque conversions! The GW model is a joke and I think the majority of hobbyists can and will do better with their own creations.

Aww man those look even more sick that they are painted.

I love your model. Had a similiar idea when I saw all those Talos heads on the sprue. Looks great man.

Those things look excellent. The only thing I'd like to see is their stitches painted darker for contrast, 'cos that's creepy.

The main reason I joined up today was to comment on these brilliant conversions! Excellent work there.
I've yet to even start buying for my DE force and I was searching round for an alternative for Grotesques - I'm certainly not paying £12.50 (!) for just one monopose model - and these fit the bill perfectly.
I intended to put a few spare Raider prows for heads on mine though, pyramid head FTW!

With all additional bits from raider/talos and some cheep models like rat ogres(wich are great on their own) You can make wonders like Stragne Dude show us....Great models bro, thing I want to ask is did you made talos and then bits to convertion or you used whole talos?(need to plan my shoping)

They look a thousand times better than the official sculpt. Bravo.

Well done sir. I use a bluish skin tone and find that a purple/flesh wash for just lining adds a lot of contrast.

Hope you don't mind me stealing the grotesque idea.

Oh, right. Dark Eldar. I'm supposed to steal whenever it suits me, regardless of the other person's feelings.

I do believe you may have set the alternative Grot standard.
