So, the bits that are hanging off belts, specifically the warriors. There are rods of some sort...what are they supposed to be? They don't look like ammo, but maybe they are? What color d'you think they should be?

These are usually painted as vials of drugs(combat or otherwise). Usually painted the same color as the tube on the left shoulder. It looks best if painted in an accent color that grabs the eye a little bit.

while we're at it, what are those round discs? Ammo? I've left all of mine black, for the moment, because of my lack of having a clue...
I'd say they are the things that contain the chains the Warriors use to stabilize themselves on the transports and/or hold trophies/loot. One of the Raider passengers does that. You can see that the chains come out of the disks and I imagine them working much like a measure tape: pull them out to use them and when you let go, they snap back and roll up inside the disk.

Also similar with the Hellions, Kinnay is bang on with his response. Would be interesting to see a real life one as a tape measure.
