As I stated on this thread:
http://www.thedarkcity.net/t4889-2000-dual-force-org-list-for-a-tournament
I was told "you are playing Dark Eldar, so you can't win anyway" in a dual force org setting.
So... i made a list to prove them wrong. The list I used is the one in the army list thread, no changes.
Game 1:
Imperial Guard
He had:
a vendetta
2 40 man blob squads w/ commisars
a ton of heavy weapon teams
a leeman russ (he outflanked)
creed and krell
3 medussas
vet squads
a couple chimeras
agis line with quad gun
He won the roll to go first
He deployed across the board, I stayed far back in my deployment zone.
Turn 1 was night fight
He went, and could not see a thing, as I was too far back.
I went, and immediately took out the quad gun (first blood) and rained death on all of his heavy weapons teams from afar with the venoms. My ravagers concentrated on his medusas and chimeras, but due to camo netting, only shook 1 medusa, and destroyed 1 chimera.
His turn 2 the vendetta showed up, and promptly wasted a ravager. his heavy weapons teams that were left were able to remove a gun from one venom, and shake another. His medusas were flicker fielded to no damage.
My turn 2... some venoms zoomed up by the vendetta (need 6's to hit anyway, why not go 12"?) the ravagers lined up for shots across the board and on the vendetta, and the other venoms moved in for the kill.
the third blaster shot from the venoms hit, penned and destroyed the vendetta, freeing the ravagers up to wipe all the remaining tanks off the board. the venoms opened up on anything on foot, starting with the heavy weapons teams. My haemi venom had moved 12", but was in prime area to jump out next round to hit the blob squads with flamers. When the splinters cleared, all that was left were the blob squads.
His turn, the leeman came in, and promptly destroyed a ravager.
My turn, double flamers and venoms wiped 1 squad, ravagers wiped the leeman, and he quit on his turn 4.
The defeat was sound, quick and oh so frustrating for the guard player. What could he do?
Game 2:
Necrons
Imoteck
a couple cryptechs/ chromotron/ lances
3 warrior 3 immortal squads
4 heavy flying skimmer things (not flyers, the small barges)
a squad of reflecting shield necrons
scarabs
I had first turn. He outflanked imoteck and pretorian things. (warlord ability)
Turn 1- take out the big threat. Scarabs disappeared, as did a few warriors from squad #1 (first blood)
His turn, tanks shot down 1 ravager. Lightning from imoteck took out the heamis ride, and with amazing luck, killed all 3 wracks! (fearless though so no test) and a cannon off a venom.
My turn 2 saw concentrated fire on a unit if it was over 6" from a like type unit. A warrior and immortal squad both disappeared, as did 2 tanks.
His turn 2, imoteck came on, but could not charge and was out of flamer range. His tanks took out another venom and ravager, and warriors and immortals wiped the squad that fell out. (even with going to ground)
His lightning ended, so he used the chromotron- and promptly failed the roll again. No more lightning storm!
My turn 2 saw the death of the last of his tanks, 2 more warrior squads and each and every single pretorian shield guy.
His turn 3 saw the 2 remaining immortals try to stop the venoms, but flicker fields saved em all but 1 glance.
Imotech tried to charge the heamis squad, and made it.
Combat saw 1 of the two haemis die, and imoteck make all of his many many 2+ saves. (I mean like 5!) Being fearless, the last heami still hung around.
My turn 3 saw all of the remaining immortals die, leaving imoteck alone to face like 8+ venoms and 4 or so ravagers.
His turn 4, Imoteck killed the last haemi, and was all alone facing a torrent of shots. He forfeited at that point.
My opponent did not do a single thing wrong that I could see. If he had more vehicles, he might have been better suited to face me, but troops on foot with a 4+ save just die in droves to 120 splinter cannon shots a round, not to mention all the splinter rifles, blasters and dark lances!
Game 3 was pitting me against the new chaos dex. I had never played this new army, so I was unsure what I was facing.
He had a lord on juggernaught,
sorcerer on foot
a huge unit (20?) of noise marines with like 2-3 blastmasters,
a large unit of bikes
a helldrake
a defiler
4 units of conscript type guys
a huge unit of marines
and some more I can't remember.. I was getting foggy by this time.
I won the roll to go first, no night fight.
Turn 1- everything moves up, and shoots.
No more defiler, no more lord on juggernaught, no more bikes, 2 units of conscripts gone.
His turn saw two venoms dropped, and the noise marines wipe squads out with no cover save firing. Sorcerer made 1 unit have to do ld test to move or shoot.
My turn 2 saw all conscripts gone, the big marine squad gone. He still had a full unit of noise marines.
His turn 2 saw the hell drake arrive, 1 ravager destroyed by vector strike, a venom dropped by shooting, and noise marines wipe the squad again with no cover save shots.
My turn 3 saw the hell drake destroyed (blaster finally took off the last glance!) and me start whittling down his noise marines.
At this point, he realizes that he can at best destroy 1 unit (either venom or squad) a turn. He concedes.
Again, my opponent did not make any mistakes I saw. If he had gone first, things might have been a bit different, but I think the result would be the same.
My overall take:
This list is nasty beyond words. You are guaranteed to get line breaker if you want it, it is good against flyers (not great, but good. 18 dark lance shots a turn with 9 blasters is nasty!) and devastating against models on foot.
I think I would call this list "The Eraser" because with each turn, it wipes giant swaths of your opponents army from the board!
No game made it past turn 4.
Almost all the games were decided and over in reality by the end of turn 2.
HOWEVER, this list was not too much fun to play. i spent a lot of time saying "sorry" to my opponents when i rolled 4 venoms and the troops inside them against a lone unit of 10 models. It was ugly, and i am sure that my opponents had to be frustrated and did not have too much fun. I would never have taken a list like this to a friendly game, but i was challenged to bring the nastiest list I could make, so I did!
