well, I was invited to a three game tournament at 2k points. This is the same store where I brought the "eraser" list, and BY REQUEST I was asked to bring it again.
Who am I to dissapoint?
When i got there, I saw the missions were with 2 main objectives, and some tertiary (linebreaker, first blood, etc)
EVERY primary was kill points (hence them wanting me to bring my 28 kill point list
) the other primary was objectives.
My List:
haemi with venom blade and liquifier
Haemi with scissor and liquifier
9 x warriors w/blaster in venoms/ 2x cannons
3 wracks in venom/2x cannon
6 ravagers 3x dark lance
Game 1 vs Wolves
His list from memory was:
5 drop pods (2 filled with guys that had combi plasma)
3 wolf priests
3 units of longfangs w/missle launchers
aegis defence line w/lascannon
couple wolf termi guys with longfangs
a lvl 4 psyker
I won the roll to go first, and the scenerio was nightfight turn 1. No problem with that at all!
I moved up, and unloaded the venoms on the longfangs he had behind the aegis. When I was done, 1 squad was wiped, 1 squad had the psyker and 1 model left, and 1 squad had 2 models. All had gone to ground for the 2+ cover.
His turn 1, and he dropped pods right in my midst. Shooting saw 1 venom destroyed, 1 squad wiped and 1 venom shaken.
My turn 2 wiped the rest of the longfangs, psyker, ermies and 1 full squad from the drop pods.
His turn 2 saw only 1 of the 2 pods drop in and wipe a ravager, and the other squads only took hull points from various venoms.
My turn 3 wiped all but the drop pods from the board.
His turn 3 his last pod come in, shoot something, then he just threw in the towel.
Dark Eldar Victory- 23 points
Game 2 was against a list I did NOT want to play.
the deployment was hammer and anvil, so i had a long long trek across the board. In this game, a dead warlord counted as 3 extra objectives!
I was facing ORKS.
He had.. 2 30 man squads of boyz with wierd boyz in them.
1 hq with force field in one of the squads
2 units of grots
aegis defence line
4 planes (yup, 4 flyers!)
5 units of 9 lootas
let me re-itterate- 5 units of 9 lootas!
So, with hammer and anvil deployment, I could fully expect to lose 5 skimmers a turn. OUCH
I rolled the strategic table, and got a "2" !
so, at least we had nightfight turn 1!
He won the roll to go first, and deployed 3 loota units behind the line, 2 in ruins.
I deployed 38" away. If he wanted to shoot me, he would have to cross his aegis line.
I took my hq and a squad of warriors and hid them in a building with no windows. no easy 3 point objective for him!
Ork turn 1 saw... nothing. His weird boy got a teleport thing, which he teleported right where he was.
dark Eldar turn 1- flew up 12", and blasted the lootas in the ruins. He only got a 3+ save lol
I was unable to finish off any squad, but one had 5 left, the other had 3. both held
Ork turn 2 saw 2 planes come in, and he shot.
And shot
and shot.
Amazingly, I had 1 stunned venom. Every gun in his army either missed outright, didnt pen or glance, or was saved by flickerfield.
Dark Eldar turn 2 saw both wounded squads wiped (first blood) and me another 12" closer.
Both his planes had to dive to avoid hits, but both got vector locked, and since they moved more than 18, and i was all up the field (except for the hidden squad) they were no threat.
Ork turn 3 saw 4 venoms crash, another 2 planes on, and 1 squad pinned.
Dark Eldar 3 was me positioning to kill orks with no cover save (ignored the lootas with the 2+ save...) and hold objectives.
The next two turns were more of the saem. He shot skimmers down, i murdered boyz in droves, but was too far behind in kill points to worry about more than keeping him off objectives. I did kill 2 planes, and vector locked them all at one point. small victories. small victories.
In the end, i also had slay the warlord, all the objectives and linebreaker. he had kill points.
So Dark Eldar victory 13-10
Game 3 was a bad matchup... for my opponent. A small elite chaos force that was off the table in 3 turns. He had 2 flyers though that WOULD NOT DIE. I killed one, but the other took shot after shot, regenerating everything and would not fall down!
So I was unable to table him, but a solid victory nonetheless.
Victroy Dark Eldar 23-0
When all the points were added up, Dark Eldar took 1st!
