Please help me out with my 750 points :)

Hey there!

I'm new to playing 40K and have been playing around with an army builder and have narrowed my choices to three lists which may not be the most effective ... but thats not my goal. I want to use the models I have to get started

Please tell me your opinions if these would even stand a chance and what you would change!


Version one

HQ:

1x Haemonculi (Poisoned Blade)

Hey Zathgar,

these lists look quite good, all of them, but if you want to be a little more competetive I'd try to invest in ravagers and more troops before filling out all the elite and fast attack slots. If you want to stick with your models and don't own any additional units yet, I think you'll be good with your lists. For future investments just try to get yourself ravagers (Schattenjäger in German) and more troops.

Now, what can we do to improve these lists without getting whole different units you might not have available?!

First off I thing if you want to field Scourges (Harpyien in German) don't field them with Dark Lances (not shadow, that's just the crappy German translation sticking shadow- in front of everything to have it sound better *rolleyes*). Scourges are Jump Infantry and want to be mobile and DLs prevent them from being that. Go with Splinter Cannons for more anti infantry fire or with my personal favourite Haywire Blasters (Impulsblaster in German) - these are a great Anti Tank unit.

Next up: Incubi. A lot of fat to be trimmed here. An Incubi squad is the personification of MEQ blender, make sure you don't overkill with the unit as you don't want to kill everything in the first round, much rather in the second round so your opponent can't shoot you. Besides the individual upgrades are just as expensive as an additional incubus, I'd field them bare bones or just with a klaivex but with no additional upgrades like bloodstone if you are going to stick an archon in there.

Haemonculus with Venom Blade looks good, so does the warrior unit. I'm personally not a big fan of wych weapons, only get them if you have everything else and points spare. First get a hekatrix with Venom Blade and Grenade Launcher, it ups the squads killing potential and its survivability by giving stealth within 8" of an enemy unit. (defensive grenades)

I agree with Dogmar's advice, with some additions:

- Blasters/Heatlances are a nice way to go if you want Anti-tank shots with your scourges.

- As a rule of thumb, I don't put nightshields on anything that is a close combat unit, or has blasters. In
both cases you want to get within 18", so your nightshields really have little to no effect. Give the
haemonculus a shattershard, upgrade him to an ancient, and give him scissorhands if you need to
spend points but don't have a model.

Geeze... people are so friendly around these forums.. i'm not used to that here in Germany^^

The thing with the Wych and Scourge weapons is, that theyre allready built together and painted (I could rip off the Harpy Dark Lances and replace them with splinter cannon wich was indeed my very first idea because it seemed appealing to just shred infantry to pieces with jump troops ... but i just LOVE the Dark Lance models.. gawd..)

This all isnt a problem if i'm playing vs. buddies but my local GW store insists on "You get what you see" ... so I really have to choose wisely... sucks -.-

Oh and Dogmar: I totally agree with you! The German translations are so... dorky... they realy try hard to sound cool and sinister... but .. c'mon -.-
