Hey everyone, the escalation campaign I'm in is entering the end of the opening phase, our last chance to get advantages in in the skirmish games before we move to a map-based campaign. Everyone's had their points bumped to 500 minimum, with players having more points to spend dependent on how well they've played so far. I've currently got 647 points to toy with, second most out of any players in the campaign (the leader has 682, so not far ahead).

We now have a compulsory HQ, who will be leading the force for the rest of the campaign. We also must have 1+ troop unit, which has to be the one we used in the first phase. Other than that, 3 restrictions:

No flyers
No special characters
No invuln saves of 3+ or better

So with that, I'm thinking:

Archon, Husk Blade, Clone Field - 115
10 kabalites, with a sybarite, in a raider with splinter racks - 170 (this is non-negotiable by the rules of the campaign)
5 kabalites, blaster, venom, extra splinter cannon - 125
3 incubi, venom, extra splinter cannon - 131
Tri-lance Ravager - 105

Total of 646... I think I need the ravager lances otherwise I'm just stone cold to anything more than one transport.

The bone of contention here is the elites spot. I need something that can be taken in a unit of 4 or less so I can get the archon into a venom. He's set up for uber-cc killyness, so I've paired him with a small retinue of incubi. However, there's an argument to be made for bloodbrides/trueborn instead.

For what its worth, at the moment my collection consists of a battleforce, an archon, an extra box of warriors, a box of incubi, 2 venoms and a ravager, so I don't have all that many options. I think this is the best use of my points, but if anyone else has opinions then let me know Smile

At that point level you won't likely be running into a lot of enemies with a 2+ Armor save so I would change out the Husk Blade for:
- Venom Blade or Agonizer & Blaster
- If you take the Venom Blade, consider finding points to take the Djinn Blade as well.

The Blaster is AP2 so it will still give you a good shot at killing things with a 2+ armor save. Both the Agonizer and the Venom Blade will give you a better chance to wound, while the Djinn blade is also AP3 and will give you the 2nd CC weapon extra attack even if you never use it to attack.

- Add Ghostplate Armor & Combat Drugs if you can find the points. You will want better saves with no shado field available.

Consider replacing the Incubi with Blasterborn.

Woops, should have mentioned... archon has a 5+ invulnerable - we got to choose a wargear item from 3 at the start of the campaign (other options were giving a ranged weapon special ammo, or something c-c related, forget which).

Sadly I don't have enough blaster-armed kabalites to make blasterborn otherwise I would... will consider other archon loadouts though as the huskblade is probably overkill.
