Round 1 vs Necrons :My opponent list :
- Spoiler:
- Quote :
- QG1: Destroyer lord with 2+ save (joining the scarabs).
- QG2: Necron overlord (in a warrior squad).
- QG3: 4x Destruction crypteks (one in each warriors squads).
- EL1: Triarch stalker.
- TR1: 5x Necron warriors in a Ghost Ark.
- TR2: 5x Necron warriors in a Ghost Ark.
- TR3: 5x Necron warriors in a Ghost Ark.
- TR4: 5x Necron warriors in a Ghost Ark.
- TR5: 10 Immortals.
- FA1: 9x Scarabs.
- HS1: 3x Canoptek spyders.
- HS2: Annihilation barge.
- HS3: Monolith.
Everything went quite well. I won the deployment roll-off adn decided to let him begin as there was night fight on turn 1 and we were in the hammer and anvil deployment (so lots of space for me to deploy after him). Vect managed to seize the initiative and I rolled +1A on the drugs.
Turn 1 : The ravager destroyed the monolith (armor 14 ha ! Dark light FTW !) and the Dais immobilized the barge while he only destroyed a single venom.
Turn 2 : The voidraven came but did nothing. The ravager and the dais destroyed a barge, the reavers bladevaned the remaining unit inside (twelve 4+ saves, my opponent failed only 2
) and some venoms finished the job. Meanwhile, the blastborn detroyed the triach stalker. On his turn he destroyed the Dais with a cryptek lucky shot. The spyders turn 180° and successfully charged my poor reavers in cover. He killed the talos with all his remaining arks and warriors inside. The now 15 scarabs with the destroyer lord charged the blasterborn venom (destroying it obviously) and were threatening my entire army for the next turn.
Turn 3 : I unleashed hell on the scarabs. The voidraven dropped his bomb insta-killing 5, the shredder squad killed 2 or 3, some wyches and warriors with their venom killed 2 and wounded some others while Vect and his squad left the destroyer lord with only 1 wound left before charging. In close combat the hekatrix challenged the lord and killed him bruttaly while Vect and the other wyches killed all the scarabs left.
Turn 4 and 5 : I managed to not let him capture middle-field objectives by focusins on his warrior squads. Vect just moved forward and made a lone heroic 10-11" charge killing the immortals who were sitting on another objective, and giving me the victory.
It was a very brutal game. We killed each others armies very quickly and the last turn showed no one victorious untill the end.
Round 2 vs a GK Kaldor-wing:My opponent list :
- Spoiler:
- Quote :
- QG1: Kaldor Draigo.
- TR1: 10x Paladins with 4 psycanons, 1 banner, nerthecium and 1 scepter.
- TR2: 10x Paladins with 4 psycanons.
- TR3: 2x Paladins.
- HS1: Dreadnought with double psy-autocanon.
- Fortification: Aegis defence line with quad-gun.
There again, everything went well. I won the deployment roll-off and decided to go first this time. He splitted his 2 10-man squads and put everything on the tableone except 5 paladins who where in flank attack. There was no night fight in turn 1. I rolled +1CC in the drug table, which was great because all paladins are CC5.
Turn 1 : I killed his quad-gun right away but failed to destroy the dreadnought with the ravager and the dais. The Kaldor squad took only 1 wound and i killed one of the 2-man squad behind the quad-gun. They failed the Ld test and ran out of the table. The reaver squad waited the paladins to move. In his turn he managed to destroy the Dais and voila. He hid 10 paladins behind a house, dooming them for the next turn.
Turn 2 : Indeed, he forgot about the voidraven's bomb who entered in play this turn, moved over those 10 hidden paladin and insta-killed 4 of them (the four with psycanons
). The reavers begin their harassment war, moving, shooting a paladin down and moving again behind a ruin. I also turbo-boosted the 5 wyches-squad behind a ruin close to the dreadnough as I failed again to destroy him with the ravager. The blasterborn tried to hurt Kaldor with little succes (damn storm shield !). In my opponent turn, Kaldor viewed the talos and Vect approaching, start thinking it was a bad place to be a decided to go back a couple inches in order to kill the wyches venom (which he did with the 2 psycanons). The wyches were also pinned down and the dreadnought destroyed another venom.
Turn 3 : The voidraven left the table. As Kaldor and his squad were not too far from me, I decided to engage them in close combat with Vect, his squad and the talos. But before that I managed to kill the narthecium and leaving Kaldor with only 1 wound in the shooting phase. The two unit then charged. My hekatrix challenged Kaldor and killed him right-away (I think she's a future succubus as she did the same thing to the destroyer lord last game). Vect and the rest of the squad only killed 1 other paladin while the talos struggled against the scepter and his 2+ invul save
My opponent did nothing interesting in his turn. His flanking squad entered the game and killed 2 reavers only. He made the blasterborn going to ground with another unit and killed only 2. The raging close combat was still going on.
Turn 4-5 : I killed all his paladins except the flanking 5-man squad, and this freaking dreadnought was impossible to shot down untill the last turn. The big close combat continued untill my turn 5 with Vect, the hekatrix, a single wyche and the talos slaughtering the last paladin with scepter. In the end I winned by a large margin.
This was a bad pairing for my opponent as his army is very slow and I have many darklight shots in mine. However, we had a lot of fun with the close combat.
Round 3 vs Eldars :My opponent list :
- Spoiler:
- Quote :
- QG1: Eldrad Ulthran.
- QG2: The Avatar.
- EL1: 10x Harlequins with kisses, Shadowseer and 2 fusion pistols.
- EL2: 5x Fire dragons including an exarch with crack shot and tank hunter.
- EL3: 7x Striking scorpions including an exarch with stalker, shadowstrike and scorpions claw.
- TR1: 10x Wraithguards with spiritseer.
- TR2: 3x Guardian jetbike.
- TR3: 3x Guardian jetbike.
- TR4: 3x Guardian jetbike.
- TR5: 3x Guardian jetbike.
- HS1: 3x Warwalkers with scatter laser.
- HS2: 3x Dark reapers including an exarch with crack shot and tempest launcher.
- Fortification: Aegis defence line with quad-gun.
There again, everything seemed fine (but this time it wont last). I won the roll-off again, deciding to go first to shoot before he had a chance to cast fortune. There was night figth in turn 1 and I had the re-rolling wounds drug. However, he managed to seize the initiative.
Turn 1 : He killed 3 reavers with his quad-gun and dark reapers. I failed the Ld test and they flee out of the table. Loosing my nearly 300pts reaver squad in the first turn... yay ! He also destroyed the blasterborn venom with the warwalkers, even if I discovered he shouldn't had (he told me his scatter laser were 48" in range, but they are 36", and he was between 30 and 36", so the night shield should have denied this fire). In my turn I tried to destroy those warwalkers but only managing to destroy one with both the ravager and the dais (yeah I rolled poorly). I also tried to kill the inflitrated striking scorpions squad with two venom, a shredder-warrior squad, a wyche squad and the 2 surviving blasterborn, but I only killed 2 or 3. The wyches charged the scorpions and killed only one. He striked back and killed 2.
Turn 2 : His quad-gun shot down my ravager, the avatar and the wraithguards moved nearly middle-field and the harlies came support the scorpions, killing my poor wyches in the process (while they didn't manage to kill a single harly or scorpion). He also wounded my talos once. In my turn I tried to kill the remaingin scoprions with 3 venoms but they saved nearly all shots. I decide to kill the avatar with Vect and his squad, while charging the wraithguards with the talos to slow them down. The talos was shot down in overwatch by the wraithguards while Vect managed to reach the avatar who had only 2 wound left at this point. However he did nothing as my opponent had easy 4+ invul saves (he didn't even had to use the fortune reroll).
Turn 3-5 : He charged Vect and his squad with the wraithlord to support the avatar and this close combat last untill the end of the game where only Vect, Eldrad, 3 wraithguards and the spiritseer were alive. The f*cking scorpions saved everything untill the turn 5 even if I shot it with 2 venom a turn. The harlies were impossible to shot down and I had nothing to counter them so I just let them run in the field. In the last turn I tried to make my opponent roll a lot of Ld tests, but he failed none.
I finally lost by a large margin.
Honestly my opponent had a lot of luck : his 3+ armor saves were so incredible he did little use of the fortune reroll. Meanwhile, I rolled terribly on a lot of things. My opponent agreed that if I had my first turn, he would have lost. However, I did not and he played very well. And when a player is good and has luck, well... it's a pretty hard game
In the end it was a cool mini-tournament and I finish 7 on 22 players.
