| so i did a search and found next to nothing on DE apoc much less tactics on the forum so wanted to hear some opinion from those that have gotten stuck in a war rather than just the normal raiding. aka 20 man warrior squads with a quad gun being worth it or how to keep reavers alive since no corner is safe ect... and the greatest question of all why don't we get anything with a range greater than 36 . if its just as i suspect a normal raid on a bigger scale for us than ill move on and look for some souls | |

| When you consider that most of those 36" range shots can move 12" and fire, it's more of an extremely mobile 48" range.
In all honesty, the only time I have seem to have trouble finding targets is if I've already killed so many, that the stragglers are out of range.

| I've played in one recently and used a Baron/Eldrad/Beaststar to good effect but faced no opposing D weapons - if I had, they'd be a big smear.
Go spam, lots of everything, take advantage of our formations for the Ravager and Razorwing and if running lots of Wyches and Beasts - the dark olympiad.
As for tactics, its extremely difficult, your target priority has to be good but then theres so much for you to have to deal with. 36" range shots mean nothing if you're playing on a bigger table that is 6' etc.

| I haven't played many Apoc games in 6th. But I always liked the webway assault strategem, allowed for great movement, and kept the opponent distracted.
Karnival of Pain is a fun datasheet now that "Grotesques" are T5 with 3 wounds. Problem is you need 30 of them minimum, buy Uriens buff, and throw the Duke in to grab the most beneficial drug rolls, and you can have Str 9 Grots on the charge, watch the Hull Points melt away.
If you expect any titans larger than a warhound, the Ravager Titan-Hunter is nice.
Our biggest problem is we don't have access to D weapons without allies, and all our poison and haywire are useless against Gargantuans and SuperHeavies

| I played a 5,000 point army this weekend in a event. I was paired with an Ork player feilding 7,000pts on an 8'X8' table facing a IG tank-heavy force and Space Wolves. The Webway strategem definitely saved my bacon and made the game a ton of fun to play. Each side had one objective that they needed to hold. I deep struck one WWP right behind the Space Wolves player next to their objectives. I pushed 2 Talos, a pain engine, and 7 Grotesques escorting an Archon and Urien. HAD A BLAST! I even deep struck my allied Corsair Wraithguard into that mix(they killed Logan Grimnar's Wolf Guard Termie escort with shooting, was charged by him, tied him up for two rounds of CC before taking him down ) Our speed was completely negated in this game by the distances needed to travel due to the large table size. I would follow Sky's advice; spam things that are good. Do remember that Apocalypse games are really just a chance to let your inner 5 year-old old. Don't take them that seriously from a competitive standpoint. Be ready to kill a ton of things and in turn take a ton of casualties. Pick your opponents well; these games invariably have odd rules problems, take a lot of time, and really shouldn't be taken all that seriously from a competitive standpoint. | |

| i don't take games as competitive since playing as a little kid but i can't lie i try to rack up a high kill count . i really like the webway portal idea, takes away having to weather a storm getting up close and just sounds cool emerging and cutting enemy to shreds if i can survive there shooting a worthy gamble for any archon. what about reavers on bigger board what have been your guys results, should i drop them out of a portal and make them the target of the whole enemy army shielding my other guys arriving or skirt flanks looking for a juicy HW squad. i have 27 and they fair well in normal games keeping them in a loose mob but they are usually decimated by the end against 5000+ points i see them going quick and a focus of most of my enemies given there speed. also are wyches at all viable against super heavies? | |

| Apoc is where we shine.
If you want to be a total jerk, take corsair allis and cause night fighting every turn.
Where other forces waste points on titans and superheavies and formations... we just buy more of the useful stuff we normally do.
Ive never lost Apoc with dark eldar... and tabled both Chaos and Space marines in 3 turns.
Dropped a stompa with a talos. First turn vortex grenade at BS7 from an archon in a venom, destroyed 1500 points of terminators/land raiders.
Dark Eldar are DASTARDLY in Apoc.
