| Do skimmers behind it still get its 4+ cover save? just our skimmers sit so high above it. Also I cut down the stands for 3 of my Reavers mostly so I can fit two of them in one hole in my battle foam bag but the different heights on the table look quite cool as well, is it illegal to tamper with flying stand heights? Thank you | |

| You need to be 25% obscured to get the save from the shooters point of view. That's it. I have found generally our skimmers will not get the save.
As for the reavers, given the range of flying stands GW produces - you could have simply swapped it for a different height rather than cutting it

| True but I'd already glued them in place. Awesome radio show by the way | |

| Why would you need to? As long as they keep moving, Reavers already have a 4+ cover save whether they are behind anything or out in the open.
It won't help against everyone's bullets that ignore cover, but then again an aegis defense line won't help against that either.

| Yes yes I know that about reavers, bless their little cotton socks, I mean the larger skimmers like raiders etc. | |

| No, not sure the current book has it in but, the BRB used to have a section stating you must use the base supplied. Thus cutting it used to be a no go. That said, there are numerous heights of stands from GW right down to very short which come with kits... An easy swap over | |

| Aren't there just two heights, both supplied with any flying model? | |

This. Some of those plague fly stands are tiny. The thing is we want all our stuff at the same height as most of our units are on flying stands, get cover for moving, and or still provide cover if shot through (a squad of warriors behind a raider will always get a cover save, even if they are not 25% obscured, as your opponent is shooting through the raider aka another unit). Modelling for advantage is just sad really.

Looking at the pictures at gw.com I'm pretty positive that they use the regular flying stands but sunk into the model. Like, the Plague Flies have holes up their behind where you can stick the stands into. How very slaanesh-y...

That's a relief, I thought there would be a wave of dark eldar players on 1cm stands!

This statement is now in the bottom left page 3 of the current rulebook

| The small flying bases that GW sells (the old school ones without the ball joint) have an option for one that is smaller than the current smallest reaver flying base. It would be hard to argue your not allowed to use it since you can still get it from GW and it's meant to replace ones you break... | |

| Actually, GW now sell flying bases with the ball joint (see here). | |

Not to mention that many of us still use the old Reavers with these smaller pegs that they were supplied with. I probably have 4-5 amongst my 18 jetbikes. If someone had them on the majority of their units, I would say it's an issue. Otherwise, meh.
