Searchlights Arc of fire

Hey guys,

Searchlights on tanks and dreadnaughts..... 360 arc of fire? or does it vary model to model.

Searchlights are not weapons and LOS, arc of fire etc are no longer relevant.

So then your take would be (effectively) that they could light up an opponent 360 around them then?

Searchlights work on the target that you fired your weapons at in the shooting phase. If you are able to fire the weapons then you can use the searchlight. Page 87 explains it quite well IMO.

Yeah, I think the rules are fairly clear here. If you have a gun with 360 degree arc (e.g. turret or pintle mounted) then why not a searchlight?

Since you normally need LOS to fire, then you'll also need it for the searchlight. As far as I know, nothing stops you illuminating a target having fired an indirect barrage though! (Do any barrage weapons have searchlight options? Has that been FAQed?)

Okay. I guess. I had assumed it faced one way or the other. The fact that your gun is on a turret doesn't mean your light is on the turret. But as adhemar said, it isn't a gun. So I can see how it could be different
