I always played that, if I can turn the gun in a certain direction, I can fire it in that direction, but, anyhow, is the raider gun/ravager non-sponson gun pintle mounted, turret or hull mounted? I usually turn a broadside* to the enemy, and shoot it. Can I do that? How about the venom? Is it one pintle one hull? (I model mine with both SC as under-wing mounted, does that make them both Hull mounted?).

* This way, if it's wrecked, my kabalites get a free barricade to stand behind when they disembark.

There have been quite a few discussion threads on this before.

Generally speaking TOs appear to go with a 180 degree fire arc for our Raider/Ravager front mount weapons, though some players argue that a 90 degree arc is more honest.

Per the rules, if you just mount the weapon as it is supposed to be mounted it, functionally, would have a 360 degree arc if you bothered to magnetize it - so...somewhere between 360 and 90 appears legit.

I have done a Venom with wing mounts as well - I tend to count them as hull mounted. An unmodified Venom would be a pintle and hull/turret mount depending on who you ask. Some argue, fairly I feel, that the pod on the bottom looks like it can rotate (and could certainly be modeled to do so).

I'm torn on the subject. One one side, there i no room for the gunner, if you allow it to rotate more than 90 degree. On the other hand, the Raider comes stock with no less than three passengers hanging on the outside of the hull, and I see no real hindrance in the gunner just jumping the fence and rotate along the outide of the hull as well.

or just holding the gun with one hand held out over the rail, though that is a way less cool mental image than a warrior leaping over the edge to snipe a vehicle coming up from 3 o clock

The underslung venom cannon is definitely unturnable, but you're not going to going a lot from turnin your venoms 90 degrees
