If I was to write down all the stuff I have could you guys make me an effective list?

This puts you at 960 you can add some night shields or a few blasters with your extra 40pts. With the Raiders and Ravagers you can switch some of them to disses if you want. Also you could take out one Ravager and add another 3 wrack venom squad.

It appears as if you have many units that can work well. What do your typical lists look like? And what regularly beats you?

The people I play the most are mechdar and IG

Your list looks pretty good. Mechdar and IG are pretty hard matchups. Night shield on your venoms is the only big suggestion I could offer, as well as losing flickerfield on the raiders. Your Cronos is also fairly slow compared to the rest of your army. While gun boats are great, against mech armies, their need to get in close range hurts.

Against both, its about knowing when to move 12" and shoot, and when to turbo forward and threaten his front line with assault.

most times I just move 12 and shoot, but I am questioning just boosting everything except like the ravagers and that type of role at them to see what happens because they can't blow them all up right?

Other people can't give you a "good" list for you, only discourage bad ones, and help you avoid bad units, combos and load-outs. The most important element in your list is...You! Or more specifically, your playstyle.

Are you a cautious player who values every model, and plays defensively? In which case, go heavy on the long-range guns, agile sniper jetbikes, units with better saves etc, in which case buying them cool toys to play with makes sense.

Or are you a headstrong, daring player who plays the odds and surges forward into the fray, happy to see your models take the hits, as you only have the endgame in mind? If so, plenty of barebones suicide squads, Haywire wyches, combat-orientated units, and keep upgrades to a minimum to afford more units.

The big names on this site who do great (and successful!) battle reports use different lists from each other, often wildly so (unlike poor old Tyranids, only one viable build at the moment!)

The trick at this point is to start analysing your own mentality and playstyle, and decide what sort of player you are; the choices of army list will then start to become obvious to you.

Commander Sasha is right... I'm a very competitive player.. So I'm very tactical but I don't like knowing what the person has in his army until he sets it up on the board or puts it on reserve. My local store had alot of grey knights csm and IG . I'm the only one who plays dark eldar so I had to find out the hard way how to play with this army on my own... I just found this site not to long ago by I been playing de for about 2 years

But for the most part I look at the weakness of the army( alot of time is the way they deploy) and as always have fun
