New wh40k player with my 1st list

As per the title, I am new to the wh40k table top hobby.
I have been doing a lot of research and came up with my 1st army list.

I look forward to seeing your thoughts on the list and how I can improve on it.
Most of the items I still have to purchase but I really like the idea of a fast moving army to get everyone into position quickly, then it's all about picking off where I can and like a true Archon taking any opportunities that present themselves.

I still have the following models available to me, however they didn't really fit in, imo.

5 Hellions
5 Mandrakes
10 Wyches
Urien Rakarth
Haemonculus

What I still need to buy
The Reavers
1 Raider
The Razorwings
The venoms

So it seems most of the army is not in my possession, seeing as how this hobby is extremely expensive, I want to ensure that the list and idea behind it is solid.
Perhaps it could even be changed up to incorporate what I have.

Good, but if you wanna charge with archon and incubi you need to buy even a PGL, or you are gonna lose your hig initiative

Take away the shield (you have to assault, so you have to go close) and trophies (not so userful)

Take away shields (same reason of incubi) and the special wapon (5 wyches are to low on number to do serious close combat damage, use them only for hunting vehicles

Personally I don't like our flyers too much... Ravagers are generrally better, but if you like them thats's not a bad option. You cold think even think to a Voidraven: AV>10 it's very important on flyers (bolters can't do anything!)

With this changes you will free about 50 point, that you coul use to give blasters to the cabalite (15+15 points) and maybe some other equipment to the archon (PGL or soul trap)

But if you want the Razorwing its no good to have splinter cannon for it. First two turns it unloads it missiles with lances. And By T4 (earlies) you get to shoot it.

I had another look at my codex with what you pointed out in mind and saw the error of my logic with the wyches, taking away Grisly Trophies took a while though since I went through a bunch of scenarios, but scraped them in the end.

So this is what the list looks like now:

I think the jetfighter looks really cool, so I want 1 at the least. As you can see the points dropped quite a bit, so I will just mod it for lower point games. I was thinking of adding another Ravager, but that is still a long way off due to the costs involved.
I was hoping to reach 1500 with the models I have laying around, though I haven't had time to find a working scenario for them yet.

All of that aside, the list seems to be in a much better and more logical state thanks to your suggestions.

Also I wasn't aware of how the shooting worked for the Razorwing, so CANNONS!!!

I am still working through the rule book (that's how new I am) and the support of the community really is fantastic!

If you want to add more AI to make 1500 pts add trueborn with 2x SC in a venom with 2x SC

That seems like a good idea, trueborn are hard to come by in South Africa so I will probably have to import.
Does this list have any anti air capabilities? I know at my local game store all the chaos players (3 or 4) are crazing over those birdies they got.

The Razor wing needs flicker field so that you never have to Jink with it. Chance that NS to FF then you are good to go with it.

Hi Vasara, could you explain the reasoning behind this?

Flicker field gives you 5+ invulnerable save. The same as normal cover with out the cost of snap shotting next turn. It also cannot be removed any way (Vector strike, ignore cover etc.)

I agree on the razorwing Flicker Field. You have still 125 point to fill and honestly doing that using only your remaining models is not easy. The most cheaper solution is to buy a venom and add another squad of wyches with granades (exactly 125 points).

That works out well then

If my opponent has a problem with it I can sacrifice the blaster on the warriors or something similar.

The reason for this is because I am starting this hobby with my brother (who will be playing Eldar) and we will both only be around the 700 - 1000 pt region for a while, and then I can complete the list or even change it up a bit (I am always open to suggestions) as I build to my 1500 pt mark.

At my local game shop there are quite a few of those heavy armored marine players, I think the Dark Eldar should prove to be a challenging army to play, but then again, where is the fun if it isn't?

I'd be quite happy to arrange a 1025 point game, but if you showed up to a 1000 point game with 1025 then I'd be a bit put off. If it's something like 1001 then fair enough it may be difficult to drop one point, but it's quite easy to drop 25 from your list - it may mean hard choices, but that's what the points limit is about. I'd drop the Splinter Racks and probably the Warriors' Blaster.

That aside, not the list I'd choose, but looks pretty solid.

You make a very valid argument, the list is catered to my play style (with RTS games and my general strategic tendencies) so as long as it seems solid I'm happy as can be
