Well, my (finally) tweaked DE ATC List had one last challenge to overcome... a 2000 point tournament. This tournament was a win/loss tournament.
My list is a single force org w/ eldar allies, and I was facing off in a Dual force org with Forgeworld allowed tournament!
If anything, this should put the list to the test!
My list:
Baron
20 Khymerae w/ beastmasters
Farseer w/ bike, warding. shard and Spirit stones
5x 5 warriors / blaster/ venoms/ cannon
1x 5 warriors/ venom/ cannon
2x ravager (3 lances)
1x ravager (3 dissies)
6x windriders/ 2 cannons
3 war walkers (2x missle, 1x bright lance, all with scatter)
Game 1:
Vs Swede and his Vulkan Army of Death
From bad Bad memory:
Vulkan
Sternguard
drop pod
2x Lucius pattern droppods
2 ironclads w/ melta and hammer
2 x 10 marines/ melta flamers
2x drop pods
1 x 10 marines
rhino
2 forgeworld dreadnaughts of some kind with missles, skyfire, las cannons, etc. Nasty
Game: Kill Points (must be by 3 or a draw)
Table quarters
first blood, slay the warlord, linebreaker
Combat drugs: Forgot to roll
Warlord trait (-1) to enemy reserves! Holy crap! a useful trait! go figure!
He won the roll, and deployed the rhino with marines, both forgeworld dreadnaughts and a combat squaded warrior group.
I deployed in a castle, with the dogs surrounding everthing in a big bubble. he could drop, but would be out of range with meltas and flamers. Best I could do. I kept the windriders and war walkers in reserve.
I then seized the initiative!
First turn saw slight movement, keeping the bubble intact for when he droped in. I flew 2 venoms out 12" from the bubble as bait, and started shooting.
I took out the marines with venoms (first blood) and killed one of his fancy dreadnaughts.
His turn he dropped in, (he went for the bait) and destroyed both venoms. His dreadnaught dropped a ravager.
My turn 2 and no reserves! The venoms took out almost all the sternguard (vulkan tanked like 20 wounds!) and a lot from the marine squad. Shooting saw 2 hull points from his uber dread, and it was stunned. A drop pod also bit it, exploded and killed 2 marines and 1 dog.
Hand to hand, my dogs charged both Vulkan and the marine squad. 3 heavy flamers and a lot of shots later, I made combat. (lost about 5 dogs on the charge!)
Combat was won, but he held with both units.
His turn saw only 1 drop pod arrive. A venom was toasted.
Combat saw Vulkan stand alone. Sternguard and Marines were wiped. i hit and run towards the rhino.
My reserves arrive, and vulkan took a dark lance to the face. (Warlord). My venoms started to take a toll, and a blaster snapshot took the last hull point from the uber dread.
The rest of the battle was a mad scramble to get kill points. When it was done and tallied...
TIE
so we went to table quarters.
TIE
so we went to tertiary.
I had linebreaker, slay the warlord and first blood.
Dark Eldar victory. (10 / 20 points)
Game 2:
Vs. Dan's Nids.
2 Flyrants
1 big guy that drops out little guys
4 pods
doom
3 zoanthropes
2 units of guys that have 3 shots each
a HUGE unit of both gargoyles and little hand to hand guys
Some guys that have str 8 ignore cover shots
Diagonal deployment
Objective based game
He won the roll and went first.
Flyrants took out 2 venoms turn 1. OUCH!
My turn 1- Both flyrants down and dead!
He then rolled doubles on his gaunt maker, and ran to cover all 4 objectives.
I would kill a unit, take the objective, then he would do the same.
The zoanthropes and the doom all died to lance fire.
On the last turn, I disengaged the farseer from the dogs, to contest an objective, ran a unit to contest another, and held one all to myself.
Dark Eldar Victory. (15/ 20 pts)
Game 3- VS Eldar.
Wraithknight
farseer/ jetbike
warlock
wraithguard
reapers
4x dire avengers
3x war walkers
wave serpent
To be honest, this game was almost unfair. The scenerio was "Capture the flag", where any unit on foot can capture the enemy flag by coming within 3" of it. Then, the unit cannot embark on a transport or fly, but had to bring the flag back to their own base. You could also not move more than 6" in the movement phase.
I had a beastpack.
So, I went, grabbed it, and ran it back. All the other shooting, exploding and running around meant nothing, as the game was over already point wise.
Victory Dark Eldar (maximum points)
So, at the end, 1st place.
6 tournaments in a row with Dark Eldar.
6 Wins.
I think the list is ready.
