| Fellow Archons,
My friend and I are going to try and do a doubles tournament (1500pt a player). I've never played doubles before and was wondering what value I can bring to the table. What synergies and what units work well in this format? My friend will probably play Space Wolves or Chaos Space Marines.
Any ideas on where I should begin? And our there any tricks or tactics I should be wary of?

| Synergy is the key here. If he takes wolves, you can have him take a lot of anti tank and have the best anti psyker in the game, while you take wyches and incubi for hand to hand.
OR
He could take chaos, go with some talos to supliment maulerfiends, and venoms galore. the best way is to get a list that solidifies the weakness of your teammates list and vice versa.

| Doubles lists should be written as a single list If it were me, I'd do a lot of wolfs with bolters and plasmas, havent got their codex to hand, but if they can do a not quite tactical squad with two plasmas, a wolf guard terminator as one choice, spam that. Hello objective holders. Maybe take bolterbacks if you have them?
DEldar then max out on hand to hand. Two Archons with incubi in venoms, or raiders, lots of wyches in venoms, two pain engines and a spirit engine. Slam in to one flank and roll it up.

| I think how well you communicate and prioritize things matters more than the list building. Having a well functioning team is better than having two good players.
With respect to list building, both of those armies are pretty competent at close combat. You should try to minimize your weaknesses but I think it's better to just play to your natural strengths.
If you like going first, I think Vect is a good idea. It's basically a 3,000 point game so he makes sense. You would probably want a few good melee units and then just build a list as you normally would.
Your Space Wolf or Chaos buddy should just bring as many mid strengths shots as is practical. If Chaos, take some Autocannon Havocs. If Space Wolves, lots of Long Fangs. If mechanized armies are "dead" in your gamesphere, then you both will want to mech up so you can quickly take objectives and make it a bit harder to actually hurt your armies.

| Am I the only only who think that DE player should bring as much Splinter Fire as it is possible ?.. And that chaos player should bring helldrakes and wolf player longfangs ? | |

And that chaos player should bring helldrakes and wolf player longfangs ? Nope. If I was teaming with Chaos I'd be telling them to bring as many Helldrakes as possible and leave the rest to me

| Definitely my thinking as well. Drakes are just amazing at deleting units and if you back that up with Splinter drive-bys I can't see people not crying "foul" over that combination. | |

| But what would you do against a LandRaider army? Or a flyer army? Lots of splinter and S7 flamers achieving precisley nothing.
Vect is a good idea, maybe even Vect *and* the Baron?
It very much depends what you both have available.

Land Raiders would be a problem but you have Wyches for that sort of thing. The Helldrakes should be fine dealing with any fliers due to their vector strikes. Oh, and they can still flame something else afterwards!

| Venom spam + Wolf drop pod spam is just evil on so many levels. We shoot they drop and tie up key targets. Couple ravagers for ranged AT. Its heinous! Having randomly drawn it in a doubles tourney my partner and I were almost lynched....so be warned! | |

| Venoms and ravagers taking out anything that could threaten helldrakes (quad gun, hydras etc) then helldrakes coming in and flaming and vector striking works wonderfully. My friend and I did just that at a tourney in a nearby town and placed second. Very synergistic. | |
