Hello Commorragh!

After a few small games, I've decided to try out my Dark Eldar in a local "League". It will be 5 games, so I need a bit of an all-comers list.
The units in the list are most of my models (I do also have some wyches, scourges and a razorwing)
1500 is the base army size, but the games can go as high as 2000 points. So there is room to expand the list.
I've tried to follow some of the advice I've received from the community, in particular the reavers are a "mushkilla standard" I think. Other stuff is not so great, shardcarbines with splinterborn? Splinter racks AND nightshields? Do I need a better HQ?


I'm eager to hear what people think.

HQ
Haemonculus- Venom Blade, Hex Rifle

ELITE
Trueborn- 4 Trueborn, 2 Shardcarbines, 2 Splintercannons, Venom with 2 Splinter cannons
Trueborn- 3 Trueborn, 2 Darklances

TROOPS
Warriors- 10 warriors, splinter cannon, Raider with Splinter Racks and Nightshield
Warriors- 10 warriors, splinter cannon, Raider with Splinter Racks and Nightshield
Wracks- 5 Wracks, Liquifier Gun, Venom with 2 Splinter cannons

FAST ATTACK
Reavers- 9 reavers, with 3 heat lances, Arena Champion with Venom Blade

HEAVY SUPPORT
Talos- Splinter Cannons, Chain-flails
Ravager- 3 Darklances, Nightshield
Ravager- 3 Darklances, Nightshield

TOTAL_1498

Drop hexrifle its really bad, and try to join haem to some squad. Walking alone he is too easy to kill thus giving Warlord to your enemy very fast. Maybe instead of 5 wracks with Lq, get 4 Wracks, buy Lq for Haem and join them? Splinter Racks doesnt work with splinter cannon, I hope you know. Talos is not doing anything for you, you are shooty list not melee, I would rather take third Ravager as you have low AT. If you really want to keep Talos, give him TL Lq not chain flails. Trueborns should be without sharcarbines, you want to stay away with them and fire with 36" Splinter cannons, not getting closer. 4 guys with 3T and 5+ save wont live long anyway.

I think shardcarbines with the trueborn is a bit pointless. I'd rather put those points on a night shield for the venom in that unit.

I like having both racks and shields formy raiders, nifty.

I think the haemie could start with the reavers and then join a trueborn squad for protection if necessary.

Otherwise i think it looks alright. Only thing i would miss here is more scoring units, but at 1500, you simply can't have it all Razz

Thanks for the advice.
I'll definetly drop the carbines, it was more a modelling thing, since I had the bits from my scourges.
Haemon was originally going with the lance trueborn, to give them FNP and the hex rifle just fitted in with the other heavy weaponry.
I love the Talos, it's a great distraction and rock hard. Even in my limited experience its ripped open maulerfiends, tyrants and marines. And it has my best paint job.

So carbines out, nightshields for the venoms in. Talos stays. I am open to more suggestions as to what to do with the HQ, should I replace him with a Archon? If so, where to fit the Archon in?

I don't really think the Archon will do much for you in this list.

*Edit: Also, the Venom Blade on the Haemie seems a bit odd considering he's mostly there for filling up the HQ slot and giving pain tokens if i understand your list correctly.

I would recommend keeping the Haemonculus instead of the Archon because he's a good budget HQ and you could use the points elsewhere. The only other HQ I would consider is an Archon with a Blaster and nothing else but I prefer the Haemonculus. I second the notion of dropping the wrack and liquifier gun, giving the Haemy the LG and joining the Wracks in the Venom.

I haven't had much success with Splinter Rack gunboats. I would recommend dropping the Splinter Racks and deploying your Warriors in area terrain at the beginning of the game. This makes your Raider seem like a smaller threat so that it might live long enough to kill tanks and scoop up the remnants of your Warrior squad, then dump them on an objective in turn 5.

If you're freeing up a lot of points, I would look to get 3 Wracks in a Venom. It's a bunch more shooting, and a scoring unit which could feasibly live a turn on the ground if you're cleaning up enough stuff. You can change the other unit to 3 wracks to try to free up points for this too.

The issue of whether or not you have enough AT is tricky. You have 10 lances and 3 heat lances which could get the job done. Just remember that Reavers can bladevane vehicles and it counts against the side facing the Reavers after they've moved (get the rear armour). Against heavy mech lists you might need to get the Talos into assault against vehicles and, if you get 2 Pain Tokens, any unit has a chance to glance AV 10 in assault. Hopefully you don't see too many flyer lists Smile

This is incorrect. Bladevanes don't work on vehicle (I don't have my codex on me but I know it specifically states as such in the entry that explains bladevanes)

I like the idea of the Hami taking a LG and joining the Wracks (now only 4 strong), but unless you plan on charging with them I'd consider starting him with the reavers and then getting him to leave (without the pain token) and jump into their venom.

Thanks for the tips, especially in regards to deploying the haemonculus. I know splinter racks can be a bit hit/miss, but in my last game they helped me to decimate a terminator squad. And a devastator squad.
I think I did some points wrong in my first list, thanks battlescribe!

Haemonculus will run with wracks, after giving reavers a pain token. Archon will run with trueborn in venom o give some AT fire and a CC option.

Hey, I checked it and you're correct - you can only bladevane non-vehicle models. My mistake.

In the last list version the cc-Arhon seem a bit pointless running with long shooting true borns. Change it (Haemys venom blade) maybe to one more troop in a Venom?

I would change it, but I've run out of venoms. All I have left Are 10 wyches and a razorwing.
I'm guessing that 10 wyches, with no transport or CC to hide in will get ripped apart.
Is there a better load out for the archon that will make her more effective?
