| Has anyone tried bring Illic in an allied detachment and putting him in a beastpack? He has fearless to help with the lower leaderships in the pack and gives them shrouded and infiltrate. So if you go first you'll have a +3 to your cover save to survive long enough to assault.
Curiously Illic's infiltrate doesn't care about how far you are from an enemy model, would the pack also ignore that usual restriction to infiltrate?

| I've been looking at doing the same thing with Karandras. He also brings a bunch of other goodies to the beast pack. | |

| their is an arugment that he in fact cant infiltrate with a unit that does not have infiltrate already... but its RAW versus RAI. I would ask your opponent if it is ok before you do it. | |

| Basically the argument against doing this is one of timing. You join an IC to a squad by deploying it in coherency with the unit. By the time you are deploying your infiltrating IC, the unit you want it to join has already been deployed (and did not have infiltrate at the time). | |

| I was very curious on the timing, i assumed you joined your ICs to units before deployment, hence why Huron blackheart can end up infiltrating his unit and their transport if they are in one.
I did give this a try the other day at 2k and i found that farseer support brought much more to the table than infiltrating beasts, it may have been that my opponent brought Eldrad and just redeployed targets away from the pack, but i still think rerolls to hit and possible rerolls to wound, or to saves ends up being better

| Page 39 tells you how (and when) an IC can join a unit. By the time an IC with Infiltrate gets to deploy, the unit without Infiltrate has already deployed and can't benefit.
Huron works differently. He can only Infiltrate with a unit if he rolled at least 2 on his d3 for Master of Deception roll, and then gave the ability to himself and the unit he wishes to Infiltrate with.

Sadly not. The restriction removal is a separate special rule Illic has, which is not shared.

| if you want fearless packs why not shard bikeseer? lvl 3 can see you some cool goodies tto help you survive across the board and rip things up. I know infiltrating them would be nifty once in a while, but the farseer on bike would bring more utility IMHO. | |

Definitely the conclusion i came to after trying Illic in a game, i roll under statistical average usually and want the rerolls

| There was a discussion about how to use Illic over on the dakka forums and the conclusion was that he's a pretty terrible HQ and you can only salvage him if you build a list around him and include certain units or combos. Even with these, he's still suboptimal and I would recommend choosing any other HQ over Illic.
