This must be an unusual batrep... Since I played against myself! At 1000 points! I played this game way past bed time, so I could have made some misses or two (like constantly forgetting bolter drill, throw grenades...)

Just wanted to give you a quick batrep since I find it hilarious...

Armies

Imperial Fists:

1 Captain Kasus with Primarch's wrath, power mace.

2x 10 man tacticals, HB flamer

5man tactical, flamer, Captain goes here

3 razorback, no upgrades

2x 10man devastator squads, 2HB, 1PC, 1ML
2x droppods

Dark eldar:

Duke Sliscus

9 kabalites in Raider, duke goes here and splinter racks

5 kabalites in venom + splint cannon

2x 5 wych +hwg in venoms + splint cannon

3 Ravagers, one kitted with 3 Disintegrators

Deployment: Dawn of War
Mission: Purge the alien
Traits: DE got redeploy 3 units a d6
Battlefield: ALOT of BLOS

Now the funny thing, I believe that SM codex trait for die roll of 6 is one of the worst. And well, my Captain got it, Champion of Humanity. If he slays the enemy warlord, he gets +d3 VPs.

DE goes first in deploy, no nightfight. Imperial Fists seize the initiative! Luckily my DE deployed behind BLOS:

Turn 1:
A droppod lands near a Venom, out comes 10 tacticals. Flamer and rapid fire bolters actually manage to wreck one venom, out comes wyches. First blood to IF. The Captain and his squad is in a razorback. Another razorback tried to drive through difficult terrain, it got stuck.

On DE turn, that same tactical squad is reduced to 3 man by the wych squad + disintegrators, sarge among the survivors. DE manages to blow up one razorback (not the immobilized one) and kills some marines on the explosion.

Turn 2
IF did almost nothing this turn. In close combat, nothing happens. No reserves arrive.

Duke and his warriors manages to kill of a lot of stuff, but not enough to wipe squads. The wych and 3 man tacticals do nothing. DE manages to sneak one Venom down the right flank of the IF, possibly setting up an assault for turn 3.

Turn 3
IF gets reinforcements, in form of one droppod with 5 devastators. They come out snapshotting, glancing one venom to wreck. Out comes kabalites warrior. One wych and one marine die in close combat. Imperial Fists captain Kasus disembarks and fails his shooting.

Duke disembarks, splitting away from his bodyguards. The kabalites shooting kills 4 more marines, but still not enough to wipe squads. The kabalite warriors charge the devastators, taking one casualty to overwatch but makes the charge. No hits from both sides in CC.
The Venom that flanked right, unloaded 5 wyches and they wrecked the immobilized razorback.
The Duke shot the captain's razorback that was close enough, exploding it. The explosion kills 2 marines, one of them the flamer. Now, the Duke charges and challenges Kasus! No wounds were dealt... But the fight between the tacticals and wych is taking a turn, there is sergeant and 3 wyches left...

Turn 4
IF manages to glance one ravager. The duel between Duke and Kasus heats up, the Duke had dealt two wounds to the captain! And the fight between the wyches and remaining sergeant takes a bigger turn, the sergeant won combat by one after slaying one wych! At the end of the turn, the wyches was 1' away from the table edge due to falling back.

On DE's turn, things gets even more exciting, like some kind of plot twist. The two fleeing wyches rallied, moved 3' away from sarg. They tossed a plasma grenade and hit the sergeant, he failed his save and died. Phew! Wyches that killed a razorback was now in range of the second devastator squad,

At this point, things was looking good. The Imperial Fists was down to one 3 man tactical, one devastator squad locked in combat, one devastator squad about to be charged by wyches, Kasus was down to his last wound. All razorbacks has been dealt with, the drop pods are soon to be history since they are close to my 2man wych squad with hwg. So we move to the assault phase...

The kabalites warrior locked in combat with the devastators lose three warriors, fails morale test and gets wiped out because they can't find a way to fall back towards table edge (there is two intact droppods blocking the way in addition to one structure in the middle).
The Duke fails one save, gets smashed by the Power mace...
Remember me saying Champion of Humanity is the worst trait? At this point, I just don't know how they got into a fight... Sigh... Anyways, Imperial Fists suddenly took the lead in VP, Duke dying gave away 5 VPs in total (rolled a 3!!!)... Now my only way to win with DE was to table IF.

At least my other wych squad made into close combat unscathed, killed two devastators.

Turn 5
IF strikes quite hard this turn. The now free devastator squad kills one Venom. One damn tactical flamer that the 10man kabalite warriors shot up, killed 4 in retaliation this turn. My kabalites fled, they roll 11 and gets off the board. More VPs for the Fists.
Kasus move around trying to get into range of something.

DE's turn, the last Ravager in reserve arrive by DS and does not scatter. It shoots 3 shots into Kasus and his squad, killing one marine. Wyches wreck one droppod. One disintegrator manages to move up and kill 2 devastators from the squad that down my Venom on the same turn.
If game ends, IF wins...

Turn 6
Of course we got to turn 6...
Kasus charges Ravager, gets one glancing. Devastators in close combat with wyches dies by one marine, but holds. the other devastator squad shoots the dissie ravager, two glances. His remaining 3 man tactical that killed off Duke's bodyguards charges one nearby Ravager with lances, with krak grenades! They immobilize it and take off one weapon.

On DE's turn, another droppod dies to HWG wyches. The dissie ravager kills off the devastator squad. The Ravager assaulted by Kasus backs away, shoots three shots and manages to kill the sergeant. Only Kasus left and the Raider succeeds in avenging the Duke. The immobilized ravager shoots two shots, killing two marines. The remaining marine stands firm. Wyches does nothing to the devastator squad!

At this point, IF has one devastator squad with 3 marines, currently locked in combat with 5 wyches. One tactical marine. Leading with three points.

Turn 7
OK! DE last chance to win this now!

IF turn, not much happens. I'm now worried for DE!

On Dark eldars turn, the last tactical went down by lance fire. So, now the two remaining devastators... In close combat, one of the marines finally fails his save. And loses combat! The wyches fails to Sweeping Advance, that's good! The marine now runs, I roll 11'!!! He runs off the board! DE VICTORY!

Who would have thought eh?

That imperial fist player was terrible, drop pod devastators what was he thinking? On the other hand that DE player was brilliant! Very Happy

On a serious not games against yourself are great for practising Dark Eldar deployment, especially going second. Don't roll any dice and just assume each enemy anti tank unit will automatically destroy one vehicles if they are in range. Same for infantry. Try different deployments, see what gets you the least number of turn 1 casualties. This can be really handy if you lost badly to a particular deployment style in your last game.

Thanks for sharing the pain. Smile

Drop pod devastators are good! if they survive the round... My initial droppod deployment was on a place where they would be BLOS by the pod, one piece of terrain and have free sight over the whole right flank, no threat. The plan was for the rest of the IF to have a place to fall back to and be able to shoot pursuers. But the pod scattered 10 into a bad position.

Otherwise yes why would you droppod devastators, they just die on the following turn Sad
Or gets charged...
