1500 Tourney List

Hi all,

I have a tourney coming up this Sunday, my first since 4th Edition...I may be putting too much stock in the Huskblade wielding Archon, I just have glorious visions of Instant Deathing Riptides and Special Characters and blablabla... this is virtually my entire collection at the moment, so the alternative to the Archon is pretty much just a cheaper character (like another Haemonculus or a Succubus) and some upgrades spread around. Keeping the Huskblade may require me to shave another 10pts somewhere to give her Combat Drugs or a Soul Trap.

I've never played at this points level yet, so any advice would be welcome....in the games I have played (up to 1K) I've been pretty decent at staying mobile and focussing the bulk of my army on one of my opponent's flanks, ignoring as much of it as I can to limit the returning fire.

Haemonculus w/Liquifier Gun & Venom Blade

Razorwing Jetfighter w/Splinter Cannon & Flickerfield (Dark Lances)

(2x) Ravager w/Nightshields (Dark Lances)

(3x) 5 Kabalites

5 Wracks w/Liquifier Gun

4 Grotesques w/Liquifier Gun & Aberration w/Venom Blade
-Raider w/Enhanced Aethersails

4 Beastmasters w/10 Khymerae & 4 Razorwing Flocks

Grotesques are not that great. I would go with Incubi instead, but if you don't have the models, then that's okay. Splitting up the Beastmasters unit would be a good idea, just to avoid putting all your eggs in one basket. If you do end up killing a character or a Riptide with your Archon (which would be awesome), you'll wish you had a Soul-trap. I hope I was able to help give you some ideas. I love Grotz. They are our all purpose majority toughness 5 meat shield and wrecking ball. Few things break faces and print tears like a unit of grotz with two paintokens and an archon with a huskblade, 18 S6, and 5 S4 ap2 attacks on the charge? Yes please. Powerfrompain71 is right about the trap though. drop some vehicle upgrades if you have to to get it.

Bibitybopity makes good points about the Grotesques. Forget about my objection to using them. I still think breaking up the Beastmaster unit into 2 units is better. Gives your enemy more targets to think about.

Is there much merit to using Combat Drugs over the Soul Trap?

It also may be worth to try to find points for PGL for the Archon to give those Grots Assault/defensive grenades

I think I'm getting too top heavy at that point, they're pretty hardy so I'm not too concerned about striking at I1 now and then - I choose my fights wisely.
