| I see a lot of talk of putting your tank hunting haywire Wyches in Venoms, I used to do this but found that it was counter intuitive. Venoms have a good range of 36", so typically I like to keep them back and focus a few of them at things until it died. When I had the Wyches in though, the Wyches want to get up close to slag vehicles, which is where the venoms want to be. So I started putting my Wyches in raiders instead.
Do other people use raiders for their haywire Wyches as well?
Is the main reason people use the venoms simply to get more Vemons in a list?
The only reason I'd consider switching back to venoms for them is because people don't freak out as much over a venom charging at them then a raider and it'd free up my raiders to be taken as gunboats.

| People do it for a few reasons. The logic behind this is threat saturation. Wyches are great at taking out vehicles. Venoms are great at taking out troops. Combined together is a versatile unit that can threaten any unit type in the game, which means the opponent can't discount them. Wyches in raiders are less effective since A: Raiders have anti vehicle weapons not anti infantry so the unit has less versatility. B: raiders are usually taken because of their higher transport capacity and more than 5 wyches is usually overkill. Since they are a suicide squad anyways more models only makes them more points down the drain. C: They do it to get more venoms like you said. | |

| Also ten whyches maximizing the raiders transport capacity is overkill, as it increases the chances of getting a penetrating hit with one of your haywires and possibly killing all your whyches. I used to run ten out of raider until this happened to me a few times and then I stopped. An unlucky roll can still blow up a vehicle with 5 but the odds are better that you will just wreck it. | |

| Well, what if your enemy doesnt have any armor at all? Does raider still seem superior? | |

| ^agreed. I had this issue when facing nids at a tourney. I wasted points on a transport that was almost completely useless. I agree it does seem counter intuitive but the movement if done right only negates 1 round of shooting. On the plus, you'll most likely get a 4+ jink. Ill take 50% over what is it, 33.3% chance? Math is a part of the axis of evil | |

| I have had great effect with wyches in raiders. Mainly because of enchanched aether sails making them extremely fast. I am also experimenting with shock prows, torment grenade launcher and aether sails and I'm quite fond of the results so far.

| You don't need 10 Wyches to make the raider option worthwhile, you can take 7 or 8. I alays think 5 is slightly too few to haywire vehicles as 2-3 get killed in the inevitable explosion.
Also they're bigger, which helps in some circumstances.
