Hellion/Gunline firing squad

Just checking that this is legal as I only, personally, thought of it this morning.

I have a unit of hellions with a stunclaw. I charge an enemy unit with a character in, then hit and run at the end of the phase, pulling the character with me. The following phase, I'm still in combat (hopefully) so I can't be shot. At the end of THAT assault phase, I hit n run again, but don't use the stunclaw - so I leave the independent character way out in the open with no Look Out, Sir! in front of my gunline.

Then calmly fill them full of the finest splinter rifle ammo or, in my particular case, hexrifle shots.

Is it legal? Anyone tried it?

Yes its legal. I haven't done it myself, just remember it leaves the Hellions open to be shot and you just gave your opponent their next target. They won't want you doing it twice

Yes its perfectly legal, but don;t forget there is nothing stopping another unit (like the one you Hit and Ran from, from charging your Hellions even if they can;t shoot them. Then you'll have the same guys to fight again, but they'll have an extra attack for charging.

The Hellions can't be shot, they are still in combat with the IC. Although, as squidmaster says, you may get charged by the squad you just hit and ran from.

the stunclaw is broken, if you issue a challenge with the hellion champ, he's locked and cant draw that IC out anyways with hit n run. So its a cool wargear but doesnt work

Doriii, to make it work just don't issue or accept s challenge. I think the FAQ is incomplete, you should be able to snatch someone the Helliarch is in a challenge with. I might call gw about this one.

It doesnt, in the above example its Hellions turn and they can assault anew to another target.
