750 Venom Heavy. First DE list

Hello all,

I'm new to the Dark Eldar and 6th ed, but not 40k in general. Been gaming/painting for the past 20 years now but with newborn children I've been unable to paint/play as much as I would like. That is hopefully set to change and rather than carry on with my old projects (marines.....always marines) I've decided to go with something new and got a hold of some Dark Eldar in a couple of fantastic trades which have given me a fair base of the list below to start from.

I want a list that is fun to use whilst also being competitive.

Archon - 140
Shadowfield, Venom Blade, Soul Trap, Phantasm Grenade Launcher, Combat Drugs

4 Incubi - 118
Klaivex, Bloodstone

5 Kabalite Warriors - 70

As I said it is in part what I have (Incubi, Archon, Warriors, 2 Venom) and in part stuff I like the look of (Razorwing) and trying to get a froce together without having to spend a fortune to get some thing on the table.

I would appreciate everyones honest critique and suggestions. Thank you.

T1 anti tank? the two blasters that don't want get close is not enough. Even for a friendly game.

Competitive? Archon and incubi are never very good choise for tournament players. Your unit costs more than 40% of your army. Its likely not going to get to cc very easily as it stands out as only cc thread in your army. And its very easy to wipe out. You also pack a lot of upgrades in every squad. Most of the time they are waste of points. Like sergeant upgrade on smaller units. Large, 200pts+ units can more easily testify the price of LD upgrade than smaller ones. But still razorwing needs flickers to avoid Jink.

Think of the end off your second turn. How would those Venoms be placed on the table: Two very far behind trying to stay in 36" with possible flyer shooting enemy. One venoms (if not exploded) unsupported at the front trying to get those incubi to cc as they are too expencive to to keep as counter strike unit in so small game.

Thanks for the response Vasara. Looks like my first idea is a bad one. In my defense it was mainly chosen for aesthetics.

I've had a play with pen and paper this afternoon and have come up with another list.

Archon - 95
Venom blade, shadow field

5 Kabalite Warriors - 60

8 Kabalite Warriors -87

Total - 742

How is that? Any better? 4 splintercannons, 7 dark lances (though I wonder about swapping the raider dark lance for its other option)?

Thats a pretty deadly list at such low point levels. I personally would swap out one of the Ravagers Dark Lances for disitengrators, but thats purely personal preference and I don't actually think its the better option. Swapping the raiders though I think is an actual good idea, it'll help to punch a few tough models of there feet when your torrent of fire is lagging.
