New 40K starter box for 7th, possibly in first weeks of June

It's Natfka and it's another anonymous rumour - pure and rampant. But it is interesting, and Dark Vengeance definitely seems to be on its way out. Which is a shame, because the Chaos models in the set are some of the very best that GW has ever done in any army, and are light years better than the same old CSM rubbish that continues to get peddled in the rest of that range.

IG has never been in a starter set, and Sphess Muh-reenz of some flavour have never been excluded, have they?

Still, if true, this set would mesh with the recent IG release. I would have expected more Orks to go with them, fluff-wise and given the pending Greenskin release, but they were just featured in AoBR so maybe it is our weaker cousins.

So, let the unbound speculation about the potential contents of the Eldar half of the box begin!

Hmm I have seen alot of conflicting rumours regarding the starter set and the rules in general tbh. I have decided to stop reading all the rumour sites and their comments as I found myself getting really negative (nerd rage) about this release without really knowing anything. The truth is in the playing so I have resolved to reserve judgement until a few games are under the belt. I would love a space wolves starter set though as I am a long time SW player and have quite an extensive painted and converted army

I mean if they want to play to the OP lists it would be fluffy and awesome to have an Eldar/Necron box. Think how well that would sell. The current top two lists, AND fluffy!!!??? whoa bro, whoah.....

My main worry about a new starter set is whether they go down the Hobbit route and give you a half baked small rulebook.

Despite being a BA player, if it doesn't contain a mini rulebook then I ain't buying it!

I bought Dark Vengeance, put the models up on eBay on the day. Made a small profit plus kept the rulebook. Can't see that happening this time.

I did the same.

I was talking to the owner of a local small games store, and he seems to think that the new set is definitely Blood Angels and Orks, and will have a small rulebook. At least that's the impression he's gotten from GW. Not entirely sure of his sources, but he says its from their ordering department as he was trying to find out how many he could get in and what he was selling them as.

If there's no proper rulebook in the set I'll avoid the set too.

This seems to have been debunked or at least delayed for now - Dark Vengeance will be carrying a new edition of the rulebook soon.

Just got a bit of confirmation.

My local stockist has been inquiring to set up some preorders for the club I play with, and just got back to me.

There is NO NEW BOX SET.
At least that's what he as a stockist has been told.
He's been told there MIGHT be one, but if there is it'll be November/December. For right now though, the 7th release is rulebooks only (and the possible rumoured tweak to Dark Vengeance, but no words on that in this particular conversation).

I find it VERY interesting that we get DARK ELDAR on the cover of the CORE RULEBOOK!

Hopefully a very clear sign of things to come!
