| Greetings archons, need some advice here. Which of these is the best to deploy in a list? 1. Purely coven 2. A balanced mix of coven and kabal 3. Purely kabal 4. Some other way? And with your opinion, perhaps an idea of how you would field your selection? My hope is to create a balanced mix of coven and kabal but can't seem to figure out what would be competitive. I also want to work in wracks, incubi, warriors/true born, and wytches if possible. Thanks in advance! | |

| In 6th I used to run a mix of coven kabal and cult. However, 7th has me running purely coven and cult. I run the coven for high toughness in raiders (grots, wrack mainly) and haywire wyches for vehicles. Maybe reavers with caltrops as the can do what they do and still jink with no negative impact. | |

| I like that idea, I think my main problem is I want to field a little if everything including reavers, talos, razor wing fighter, and all the others I mentioned above. I fear it is a bit impractical to have a one of everything style. Everything looks oh so good though | |

| I prefer kabalite primarily with a little of either cult or coven. I always find the coven/cult units to short ranged for my liking | |

| For the pure DE army, I mainly use Kabalite units (+ a few from Coven and Cult), not because they're the best, but because I have no grots and wychs yet | |

| I run an elite Kabal force who use their Coven friends for ablative bodies.
Archon HQ, Trueborn and vehicles along with Wracks and Grotesques.

| Competitive? Mix of everything, although if I had to go pure then Kabal all the way, our shooting is still superior to our cc. | |

Thanks in advance! Are you looking to just win? Or have a theme? In 6th I would've told you pure kabal venom spam. However, I played a coven based list with a beast pack last week and tabled tau. Raiders are so survivable now your wracks and grots will almost surely make it to their lines. Had wracks in raiders, grotstar with 2 haemy w/ liquifiers in a raider, a beast pack with khymera and razorwings with the baron, 2 talos, 3 ravager, 4 venoms and a couple units of trueborn. Was a sick list. Now I'd roll a balance of both.

If you're looking only to win, max out venoms and pick your poison for anti tank. I like warrior squads with a blaster and ravagers or void ravens.

| As with all answers in life (especially those irrefutably proven through the scientific method):
It depends.
Whose better? Kabal or Covens? Well... they're better at different things. I always view coven as our defensive choice.
But the fact is if you want a fluffy army, just about any choice is viable, so use whatever you want. I ran a cult themed army with some success and it was a blast, but if you pick just one of the three you are going to have some weaknesses.
If you're looking to win, then honestly, you need a little of everything. The firepower of a kabal. A cult's access to haywire and flyers, and I always wrap my HQ up in a bunch of grotesques they've been far more valuable than my incubi retinue ever were! I often run a talos too. Combined they can both be tough nuts to crack, and they either take the pressure off your brittle elves, or they wreck face when they reach their destination.
EDIT: BUT! If you're looking to be fluffy with one theme AND win, then kabal is probably your best choice. They're they most balanced of the three.

| I run a pu-pu platter of all of them. Each flavor of DE has something to bring to the table. Reavers are some of the best scoring units in the game (especially in Tactical Objective games). Trueborn didn't get any less awesome than they were. And Urien Rakarth's uber-grots are still some of the nastiest customers our codex can muster. | |
