| The Splinter Gate, an enormous arcing pillar of purest soul quartz rising from the omnipresent twilight of low Commorragh like a false beacon in an ocean of depravity, unholy light spilling from the forbidden portal housed within, is the home of the heinous Archon Uaclion. Lustful and eccentric Uaclion perceives herself as the deserved guardian Goddess of the Splinter realm and, some say, all that she sees from the highest parapet of the Shattered Palace. It is no secret that she views all outside her domain as inferior and it is even known that she has once outright refused the court of Asurbreal Vect himself, a bold gesture, though many are still waiting for the day that Vect decides to punish her for this lapse in judgement. However that day may never come to pass, after all, the Kabal of the Splinter Gate are naught but an infestation, scraping out an existence in the castaway land that is lower Commorragh, and are most likely beyond the care of Vect anyway. The Kabal of the Splinter Gate are a small Kabal that inhabit the Shattered Palace and much of the surrounding districts as well, the Palace itself twisting and turning through the frame of the Splinter Gate like a termite nest, parapets and towers sprouting out in all directions, hangers and even small arenas are visible towards the peak of the archway, with the Raiders, Razorwing flocks and Hellions swarming the airspace around the spires like a black cloud. The Kabal cast themselves as the guardians or this ancient structure, evading the fact that it has been over 6 millennia since it was last used, or the fact that it has been all but forgotten by those it served in high Commorragh. Uaclion has maintained her Kabal's guardian status since the death of her predecessor and ensures that her Kabalites do not forget the importance of their role. To enter the ranks of The Splinter Gate, an aspirant must make a long and convoluted pledge, involving may trials of faith, that they will not rest untill the Splinter Gate is restored. For a dark eldar to keep to his or her word is rare, however Uaclion's Kabalites, while just as deprived as the rest of their race, have never broken thier oaths of loyalty, this perhaps goes a long way to explain their bond with the craftworld kin of the Ufrorix Expedition. That is, until the gate is restored and the horrors within unleashed. The Splinter Gate, an eight kilometer high arch of soul quartz, is actually an ancient webway portal created before the rise of Vect for use as a prison, whose occupants would be any of the many vile warp entities that often stray would often stray into Commorragh before its defenses were properly constructed over the years. Any entity that was unfortunate enough to be caught in the gate would be trapped forever in a tiny pocket of the webway, far from prying eyes and impossible to reach by any other means, thus meaning those entities trapped within would slowly be driven mad to such an extent that their own dark Gods would turn away at their eternal plight. When the dysjuction of Commorragh occurred, the Splinter Gate saw ever more use as more and more captured daemons and warp spawn were cast into the portal, and slowly the Splinter Gate Kabal formed, created from those who hated the warp scum with such a burning passion that they were willing to cast away their previous lives of excess to ensure the gate would remain forever sealed. Unfortunately, such noble and selfless beginnings were not to last as the Kabal's aim slowly shifted over the years, the Dracons and Archons realized that those within the gate could be used to their own gain. As such, the scheming, malevolent psyche within every dark eldar began to regain a foothold in the minds of the guardians, turning them away from the path they had chosen. Now, the Archon and Dracons of the Kabal of the Splinter Gate aim to rebuild the gate and unleash the horrors contained within in a deluded and seemingly implausible attempt to gain control of Commorragh and overthrow Vect. And now, with the gate almost complete, and the raids emanating from the Kabal's fortress increasing, Uaclion is set upon being the Archon in power when the gate is opened. The plans of the Kabal are complex but misguided, Uaclion being one of the most deluded Archons the Kabal has ever seen, that is not to say however, that she is not brilliant, her tactical acumen on the battlefield is matched only by that of the craftworld kin she fights alongside. While her master-plan is a long shot, Uaclion may, in the end, be the Archon to overthrow Vect, though that day seems a long time coming. I hope you enjoyed the beginning of The Kabal of the Splinter Gate's story. I will post further to keep the story going as I get ideas but I don't want to post too much at a time. | |
