| Hello guys,
a friend of mine and my regular opponent just ordered a Salamander army from FW so I started reading on templates and was very unhappily surprised with the new "No Escape" rule. I know that I shouldnt probably start this thread with our new codex within next few weeks, but I would like to hear your thoughts on how this will affect our listbuilding/deployments. | |

| the standard way to protect against flamers is to stay out of range. Since we have fast skimmers that's not too hard to day unless they are deep striking. If they are deep striking castle your units in a corner with empty transports providing a wall between your troops and the flames. they only suffer no escape wounds if they are in them after all. The tough ones are helldrakes and the like. | |

| Yea. That part is easy, but I will get a drop pod full of heavy flamers in my face in subsequent turns anywhere on the board, Speeders with heavy flamers and other nasty things that I cannot simply outrun. And given that salamanders flamers reroll wounds, they are extremely dangerous. The same goes for Heldrakes which may have limited field of fire now, but they have become worse when they hit. I know my opponent. He will keep something AT backfield to threaten the whole board and put 1, maximum 2 pods on the ground T1. Just to make me scatter. If I dont he cooks me alive. If I do, he will be on my heels with the rest of his army. Granted, i still can win on objectives as he might not be able to eliminate everything, but that game sounds like no fun. :-) | |

| Btw, remember that it's not all models inside the vehicule that are hit but 1D6 models per template. | |

| Got hit with this the other day, Drop Pod squads with flamers can really ruin your day if they land next to your transports...otherwise, just stay out of range I guess. | |

| I would imagine that there can't be that many drop pods. Just spread your guys out so you only lose one or two transports full of guys. After they drop on those few units they're going to be walking for the rest of the game and they'll be much easier to avoid. I know a tau player who only equips flamers on his battlesuits every time he fights me. I just spread myself reeeeeaaaalllly thin. He'll kill that unit for certain but I've still 5 more transports floating around. They can't get them all, take numbers. | |

| In most pod list four to six pods down on T1 is common. And now Centurions get pods so I expect it to be quite bad for DE. Hopefully the new dex brings some help to us. | |

| Yea. Now that the rumours started to surface, I believe that we will be getting the DEX really soon. Also the first rumours seem nice. Although I dont understand people crying for Battle Focus. DE have neither the discipline, nor any other fluff reasons. AND we have already plenty of armywide or section wide rules and dont need another. I would much rather welcome shooting full BS from transports after cruising speed. | |
