We Are All Eldar Except You Creepers...

Quick question.

Do Eldar regard Mandrakes as true Eldar or something abberant? I was working on a fic and wondering what my Corsair captain might think (He is Craftworld born) of a small DE contingent looking to trade, they include Mandrakes.

Mandrakes are kinda wierdos. I dunno. Their old fluff might guide you some as well.

I don't think anybody would see them as true Eldar as nobody is really too sure as to what they are. There are myths and rumours of what they are, as stated in the Codex, but nobody really knows the truth.

The most common implication I've seen is that they used to be Eldar... then they played a little too much, then kept playing after the fall and they ended up as freaky weirdos. Because I don't think its possible for an Eldar (Dark or otherwise) to go and "become" a Mandrake, I'd treat mandrakes as something other than Eldar.

Those crazy Eldar. Who can really know their ways?

Of course the true test would be...Can they breed with Eldar?

They have the power from pain rule, their appearance, etc... are different, but they're eldar alright.

Mandrakes on board a corsair ship, possible, but unlikely, they would be there for a short amount of time, just the time to do a raid, then they would head back to Aelindrach.

As others mentioned, mandrakes are weird , really weird.

Corsairs deal regularly with Dark Eldar, the Imperial armour codex even allows you to take certain DE units, they're that close.

Mandrakes are in a weird limbo between Eldar and not-Eldar ... there are rumours of crossbreeding with daemons. I think they have evolved/degenerated into something not quite Eldar any more, given as they can walk through shadows, which is, as a normal Eldar, just plain not right.

I treat them as "genetically descended from Eldar but not precisely Eldar any more" and I think they may have diverged enough not to be interfertile. Of course, I also prefer not to think about anyone testing that. Because brrrrrr.

They still don't have the daemon special rule though, and I wouldn't consider them any more than... 10% daemon, at most.

If they showed anything other than the normal Eldar vunerability to Chaos, they would have been wiped out yonks ago.
