Helm of spite and brotherhood of psykers.

This came up last night and wondered what you all thought of it.

I knew I was facing a daemon summoning army and as such brought the helm of spite for my archon. During the game the helm of spite was within 12” of a large group of pink horrors however the furthest horrors were more than 12” away and my opponent said that he gets to nominate which horror manifests psychic powers as per the brotherhood of pyskers rule. He therefore decided to use a pink horror out of range of the helm of spite. After reading the rule I had to agree as it does clearly state nominate any model within the unit to manifest psychic powers.

I was wondering what your thoughts are on this and is this something that needs to be FAQed?

Yes this does make sense as it says in the rulebook that the controlling player of the unit can choose which model in the unit can manifest the psychic power. But I do think this should FAQ'd and clarified by GW.

The power is not MANIFESTED from one model of his choice.

"When manifesting a psychic power, this UNIT measures rasnge and line of sight any one model in the unit."
You are measuring from one model yes, but it is still the UNIT who is manifesting the power. Thats the whole point of the Brotherhood rule.

Squidmaster I was going to use the full quote, to tell you you are wrong, but I did EVENTUALLY see your point……..

I'll bring it up, but it's one of those rules that could be better worded. I can quite easily see others rule it differntly but then it would be a RAI verses raw and it's one of those where I'd never be sure which interpritation is RAI, but I supose RAI is like beauty, in the eye of the beholder.

I'd still be interested in other peoples thoughts on this.

I'd have to agree with your opponent on this one.

Really not that much room for interpretation imo...

Just remember that Line of Sight and Range has to be measured from this one model as well.

But it references line of sight and range from that single model. Nowhere does it say that that single model is the caster, correct?
