| Question: if you roll a six with the caress, do you get to roll to wound in addition to the autowound? | |

Not explicitly stated but I'd assume the auto-wound is instead of, not in addition to, the normal hit.

Not explicitly stated but I'd assume the auto-wound is instead of, not in addition to, the normal hit. Haven't seen the rule, but usually when they say auto-wound it means you don't have to roll to wound, not that it causes an additional wound (which would be likely to be worded similarly to the haywire rule where they specified you rolled the haywire damage in addition to the normal effect. At least they did it that way in 6th). I'm surprised no-one has been using this smiley in this thread so far...

| Its just like old rending. 6s to hit is autowound, no need to roll more. | |

| Another daft question (and possibly rules-lawyering already) - do you get to combine the rules for the Caress and Kiss? (I believe this only comes into play with the Solitaire). It says "When a model equipped with a Harlequins Kiss makes its close combat attacks...", so does that mean most of your attacks follow the Caress (auto-wounding at AP2 on a 6 to hit), and one instead does the instagib on a 6 to wound from the kiss? | |

I'd say yes, looking at the different wording of the two items. Caress is "each to hit roll of a 6 made by a weapon with this special rule" whereas the Kiss says "when a model equipped with a Harlequins Kiss makes its close combat attacks...". That to me says that you choose to attack with the Caress but one of your attacks benefits from the Kiss of Death rule. This does however go against the usual rules for two weapons so I think it would need to be FAQd to avoid disputes.

| I'd dispute that one with you Count - simply on the basis that the two item are both close combat weapons, and those special rules are attributed within the weapon's profile, not the model so in choosing which weapon to use you're effectively choosing which special rules you use that round. If the kiss of death rule was applied to the model that was equipped with the kiss (ie, 'a model equipped with a harlequins kiss gains the 'kiss of death' special rule') I'd agree with you, but as it sits in the weapon profile I don't.
Essentially what I'm saying is that you don't activate the kiss of death special rule until you decide to use the kiss in combat.
It's not entirely clear due to the way the kiss of death rule is worded and as you say it probably needs FAQing for clarity. It clearly wouldn't make a difference to the normal harlequins, as they can't take both weapons.
All that being said, I did waver for a bit into agreeing with you, reasoning at it was possible GW had looked at the extra attack for two close combat weapons as being made by the kiss instead of the caress, but that would open up too many questions as to why it doesn't also work with other weapons (say husk blade and agoniser for example, I'll take 1 attack with the possibility of instant death but keep the more reliable agoniser for the rest)

Reread the rule for Kiss of Death, you don't get to choose to attack with it. If a model is equipped with a Kiss, it's forced to use one of its attacks as a Kiss, so I'd say the Count is right.

Correct! Didn't notice that. The kiss of death is a special rule granted by being equipped with that weapon, not by using that weapon, same goes for the Embrace of death granted from harlequins embrace.

| I'd Highly doubt that.
Wonder How I should equip them?
Embrace + fusion for transport-popping (And GEQ)
Embrace + Shuriken for Blobs (+1 to wound is not always worth 10 pts/model)
Kiss + Neural for monster hunting (and TEQ)
Caress + Fusion for Vehicles
Caress + Neural for Gargantuans and mostly everything.
Caress + Shuriken for a cheaper generalist.

| I think that the pistols as a whole are too expensive, and if you give them both a pistol and a harlequin weapon you're looking at like a 1 wound model with a 5++ that cost 30+ points. Trueborn and scourge can do shooting better for less.
As far as melee I like the caress best I think, but they all have there pros and cons. The embrace is the weakest because it requires you both charge and get into base to base with the model who has it. That being said I could see equipping a mix of them, as they are all kind of fun, and none are terrible.
I see no reason why you could use fleet on a blitz. The fleet rule provides the times you can use it.

| Fleet was written before Blitz was invented, so it's understandable that it wouldn't include it. That said, Blitz would say if Fleet could be used to reroll it - which it doesn't. | |

| Blitz is for moving, not running right? So you could blitz and charge? Fleet won't affect blitz if it is normal movement | |

| It would make little sense as a HQ. Solitaires stay alone and work alone. They don't function as leaders for others | |

| I.....uh......don't like all of the models. I think the Soliotaire is quite nice, and most of the Troupe, but one or two of thre Troupe justr look like they're in really awkward poses. The Troupe Master especially just looks really......off. His stance seems awkward. MOre like an enforced pose than a representation of agility. | |

| SOLITAIRE! WAAAAAAAAAA! Oh man, he looks so cool! I can't believe they're bringing him back! One of my favorite 40k memories is dispatching an entire terminator squad single handedly in one round of combat. Normally I wouldn't be so pleased with such an unfair fight, but my opponent would not stop bragging on his Ultramarines and how my dinky little elf in tights was no match for any of them, especially not his invincible terminators. I'm sure this new Solitaire is less OP, which is honestly good because after that game, mine was banned from our group. LOL | |
