sorry to say but if i remember right than you swap all of your attacks for 1 grenade attack

With grenade thrown, I meant thrown in the shooting phase. With BS9.

I believe urden thought you meant attacking in melee with HWG for the glances, when you likely meant using the Caress.

One thing with the Kiss. The way it's worded means that it comes out of the base attacks, not an extra, so it would actually be 10 Caresses + 1 Kiss when Blitzing (assuming it gets an extra attack for additional CCW).

And an extra for assaulting.

But it seems that they do not know their rules XD as they gave the troupe plasma grenades and the flipbelt so they really do not suffer a penalty when charging into cover... At least the solitaire left the grenades at home as it is dead weight ;-)

It would be great if the codex said that "When fighting alongside Dark Eldar, Troupe members can lend their plasma grenades to any friendly Incubi present on the battlefield"

Just saw the preorder for new solitair $26 and troupe $40 also 2 new DEbooks and a $20 Masque of Vile book coming out.

Harlequins are the crap! Cannot Express my love for these guys. Ironically I havn't even painted the ones I have because I am afraid I won't do Them Justice.

These are the Best news GW could give me. Calling for preorder first Thing in the morning!

If only there were more harlequin fluff and fiction. The Masque of Vile was okay though!

yea and looking through the pics the troupe can take a starweaver as transport. Cannot WAITto see what i tlooks like.

I haven't read through this entire thread (it's quite long, sorry) but I've put everything I know into this video, with a link to more info in the description part (feel free to skip the vid and just go to the description part of the video for the link itself, although I do give some of my thoughts on the topic)

The main thing that I learned (that I haven't seen in this discussion) are some special rules leaks, for the close combat weapons and wargear. I hope this helps If not it's like I said: at least I offer some discussion/thoughts

One last thing I forgot to mention: the rumours have it that pre-orders are happening this weekend, with deliveries arriving the following weekend. I'm psyched

If the Harlequins charge:
10 Harlequins with Embraces (gives HoW):
vs GEQ: 22.9 kills.
vs MEQ: 10 kills.

10 Harlequins with Kisses (1 S6 ap2 attack):
vs GEQ: 14.4 kills.
vs MEQ: 8.89 kills.

10 Harlequins with Caresses (rending):
vs GEQ: 15.5 kills.
vs MEQ: 10 kills.

Harlequins didn't charge:
10 Harlequins with Embraces:
vs GEQ: 6.6 kills.
vs MEQ: 2.2 kills.

10 Harlequins with Kisses:
vs GEQ: 10 kills.
vs MEQ: 7.03 kills.

10 Harlequins with Caresses:
vs GEQ: 10 kills.
vs MEQ: 6.6 kills.

Also keep in mind you are unlikely to get all the harlequins in base to base which particularly affects the embrace. The kiss can cause instant death which is nice vs MC. Also, the caress can quite easily put on a lot of glances (10 harlequins will cause around 6 glances on the charge).

I would still take reavers over harlequins almost all the time, they are the 1pt more and that's if you don't by weapons for your harlequins (for better movement, 3+ cover, T4, combat drugs and power from pain). Harlequins are T3 5++ so unless their transport is amazing or the shadow seer can reliably make them survivable they still will die to bolter fire in seconds!

I think harlequin squads will be about having a kitted out troop leader, he has a great stat line, 2 wounds and look out sir on a 2+, so should be the last to die. Holding my breath for a decent shadow seer/transport.

I agree about the basic harlequins. Regardless of their stats and cool factor their survivability is lacking. Hopefully veil of tears gets a buff to 1d6 or they get other shenanigans. I do have faith however that the formations are where the real gold will be. I imagine that the artefacts that they can bring offers something that we don't know about that hopefully makes them go to for competetive play. Overall with the little we know I am still going to remain positive about the realease. The previous supps have been very nice. That solitaire will find gameplay for me though it is just too cool I will have to try it out a few times. The name starweaver just screams speed hopefully they can really make it the true shocktroop that we wnat them to be.

You say Reavers are a point more, but the Troupe Master is a required tax, so in a 5-man unit Harlies actually average out to 17 points each with a 10 pt upgrade to a Troupe Master. I'd say Harlies and Reavers are of equal points cost unless you're going for a max size troup.

I plan fielding them on occasion because I like them, but I mostly do agree with you. I do think they have a couple of good points that bikes lack though. They are far better at assault if you actually get them there. They are also really good anti tank if equipped with caresses. Unfortunately their lack of survivability will probably outweigh their strength in anything but friendly games.

Also I wouldn't be inclined to compare them to bikes as they seem to fit a different roll to me. Bikes are great because of their versatility. Harlequins aren't very versatile and seem to fall into dedicated assault. I think a better comparison would be against incubi, and grots.

In either case it will be interesting to see how the rest of the list pans out. Shadowseers, the transport, and the black library items could change a lot.

I never powerplay, and my lists are always made with fluff and entertainment in mind. (Which is one of the reasons I often loose but that really doesn't matter)

If I could overcome my fear of painting them (I eally want to.them justice but freehand diamond pattern are simply too hard for me) I would totally field them just for the "feel".

Harlies are in league of their own and are in need of thinking aproach with them. They certainly arent easy auto-include. But i think everyone can agree they hit hard, so we shall wait and see all the toys the have.

I agree it's too soon to tell. I'm just pointing out that they are one hell of a glass cannon. But i'm sure they will have more toys to come. I wouldn't be surprised if they had access to webway portals.

i think DE needs less of them than lets say CWE , wyches and Incubi for CCs Reavers for impacts and hit and run fun stuff, blasters are in par with prices with the neuro, heatlance better and just as situacional as the fusion pistol, i only see point in Solitaire for a nice distraction unit, you can hide it well behind walls can manouver like a reaver and still hits pretty decent on charge tho needs a bit of help from POTENT(so Darkeldar ) assault units, CWE assaults mainly from Raiders or with Shiningspears for serpent is more of a gunboat than a transport. Im intrested in harli jets tho, probably they will be 25ish points like shiningspears but with these or similar items they gonna worth that

If you ever saw what harlequins can do you never ever dismisses them. Just that effect they can cause is staggering. Somebody says harlies are cool when you roll a lot of 6s. Well, sometimes you do.

This is one of those units with reputation.

im not trusting them before i used them for a while just like with wyches i love them they can cause serious havoc if they charge in, i just hope harlis do the same some pretty sweet modells :3
