| Hallo. Im still new to this game and painting and there for i woot like some feedback and advise on how im doing. I got my first models and im praticing on some Kabalit to get my skill up. " /> " /> " /> I have try to first paint the model with a mix of metal and purple, then wash it with druchii violet. The highlights are still a mix of metal and purple. But with 1 part more metal. The cloth is leather brown, wash with agrax earthshade. First highligt is leather brown and second is khaki. The metal hook is just silver with a bit of blood on. I been trying to make a second highlight on the armor. I have try to use a light pure silver, but it just go's into one with the first highlight. Thinking about painting the armor and doing the first highlight befor the wash, to make the second to stand out more. I know i still need to pratic getting a more staty hand, but other advice will be more then welcome Thanks. | |

| My advice: keep doing what you're doing, this guy looks awesome! Super clean lines, very nice color choices and nice application of paint. Keep it up and you're gonna have an awesome looking army. You've got the skills keeping rocking! | |

| I agree with Cav - this is great for your first efforts, keep doing what you're doing!
If you're struggling to apply a fine highlight, try using the edge of the brush with only a little paint on it, and drag it along the edges, should give you a very delicate highlight provided you haven't got too much paint on the brush.

| Looks great! with that said, a couple things to help you along: paint in batches of however many you can handle unless this is a test figure. the metal highlight line could be half as thin, around the quad plates of the leg especially. keep up the great work. | |

Thank you. You are right in this is just a test model to get the color scheme. I was trying make a 2 tone highlight, but faild. Do you think that if trying the 2 tone highlight, that the lines still need to be half as thin? Thanks for your advice

| Hey, it really looks very good for first try!
I think that you are doing the same thing I did when I started painting. 2-tone highlight that actually looked like two lighter strips on armour. :-) Try to look up some layering tutorial videos. I found that technique precisely what I needed to get what I wanted to achieve - a superfine edge highlight that would show a decent but apparent sheen. It is rather time consuming but when you get the hang of it, you will just love your models. :-)
As for your question, I would say that first you need your paint to be dilluted. Preferrably with acrylic medium. Dont want to scare you, but I sometimes make cca 50 superthin, super opaque layers until I am happy. :-D but as they are very thin, they dry almost instantly, especially with me blowing gently on the place I am trying to paint.

| I like it looks great for your first steps back into painting. There is some great advise above, and I feel I cannot add too much more. However something to consider is how you will base your army. A great base can really enhance your paintjob and add alot of interest to your army. Do some test schemes and see what you like and how the colours interact with your mini paint scheme | |

| Ones again thanks, guys. Looking at all you guys quality of work, its means alot, getting the feedback and the advice I have from you @aurynn: I am still trying to get the hang of thinning Mostly Im using Vallejo model air and game air, becurs I read that it was good for a beginner to start with as it usual dont need much thinner. But i will try on my next model to do more and thinner layers. Maybe.... not 50, BUT atlest 3 or more Like you say about looking at tutorial videos, i have done that too. Really love the way youtube helps with that and I have lean alot from them. But still got lots of room for more learning @spellcheck2001: I agreed with you about that I have just left that to last, in case of... well i dont really know why Dont know if its visible on the pic becurs its still black, but i have put some "rocks" and sand on it. The plan is to paint is in a urban look with abit af death grass mix in | |

| I saw the sand but was not sure if if was the finished article or not. Show us a pic one you have trialled your base as I would like to see it. Have you looked into making a wet palette? This is the way to go if you want to really improve your painting. It keeps your paint fresh and thin for long term use, and speaking personally was on of the things that really helped me push forward in improving my painting. It is also very simple to make and use, or you can buy them ready made (P3 sell them I think). If you google wet palettes loads of tutorials and blog posts will come up about it. I highly reccomend getting one. SC | |

| Howdy. your off to a fantastic start. I really like how neat the painting is. Clean crisp paint work goes a long way to a good looking model. I have a silver skull marine army that is all metallics. I wanted them to be more than just black and boltgun, so I began washing the helmets with blue ink/wash. My method was to paint the helmet silver, then progressively wash it with blue ink/wash gradually increasing the shade of the recesses with the wash. once I got the shading where I wanted, I just started adding thinned silver until I got the highlight effect i wanted. This technique really does help the metallic highlight and base color transition better together. the pictures show how the final or near final results looks. As you can see on all the blue areas the shade shows up pretty dark, but the higher raised areas are touched up with thinned silver paint so the transition is pretty light and simple. it is quite apparent on the laurels and wings. Its really not hard to do, it just takes a little getting used too. Aside from that, one suggestion I would recommend for painting in general is to limit the number of colors you use on a model. too many colors make everything seem confusing or cluttered. On the test model, the bright blue cable on the chest to should pad jumped out at me too much. In other words, my eye was drawn to the bright color instead of the rest of the model. My thoughts are to make that cable the same color as the eyes or maybe a bit darker so the focus of the eyes is still drawn to the face instead of the shoulder pad. my 2 pain tokens. I look forward to seeing more. | |

| @GARThank you for your advice. About the blue cable, I have change a few things over the last day, the gun barrel is in the same color as the eyes. So im thinking the with more of the green and that blue is close to purple, will make the cable blend in more As sure as im got them done I will upload some pic What metal color do you use and what ratio do you thin it to? I still trying to getting the thinning part down. So far I fine that thinning Citadel metal makes the metals flow apart and leave gaps in the painting. | |

| Metallics are a little tricky.
my normal paint to water mix is about 60% paint to 40% water, how about 3 parts paint to 2 parts water.
for metallics I usually use about half as much paint. I add the water in 1 drop at a time. I add just enough to make it run a little. you'll notice as soon as you add 1 drop of water to the paint. What also helps is to apply the water with an old paint brush so you can keep adding until you get it right. if oyu add to much, like you said, it separates which is quite annoying.

| You're on the right track, light source is a must, comfort too. I paint a color, mid tone, wash, highlight on a batch then take a break if the session last more than an hr.
Wet palette is easily made, get a plastic container, parchment paper(not wax paper), sponge. Rinse the sponge and replace the paper regularly. Rinse out the water container that clean your brush out often too, especially so after you used metallic colors, I tend to do that last.
The new work so far looks great, especially the edging of the plates; the feet of some kabalite isn't armored, so maybe blend that into dark grey or black. The cherry blossom hair matches a Slaanesh feel if that is what you are going for.

| Finally got some time do finished my painting of my kabalite warriors. And here they are " /> But i gotten some more stuff to play with " /> Got 2 Grotesque, that i have made into Aberration, both with a Scissorhand. And im gona convert the Stormfiends into Grotesque, but im not done with the convertion yet. " /> " /> The 2 Scissorhand, i made from the right hand from a Wraithlord and some lose bits. The first hand was easy, I just hade to cut of the last part of the fingers of the hand and glue on the spikky parts. The second hand gave me more trouble. The hand was the one the was holding the handle of the gun. So i hade to carfuly remove all the parts that din't work. I use a knife to scach out the plastic (the gun handle and the trigger finger and thum) Where the trigger finger and thum hade been, i made into a Scissor look and to make it more like a Scissorhand look, i put more blades on the knockels of the hand After dryfiting my new Talos, i hade alot of bits left over, so i thougt "why not try to make a Crons out of the bits." So I toke a Wraithlord I hade gotten for free and set to work. (Way bether use of a wraithlord) " /> " /> The model is not finished yet and not gluet together. But this will give a idre about how its gona to look like. Im going after a zombie look. Slow moving, stackering walk, but unstopble and sinster. | |

| Looks good, the flesh could be more pale, highlight with pallid flesh; the glass viles also need a coat of ard coat to make it glossy; the blade edges and tips could use a chainmail highlight. keep it coming. | |

| Thanks for the feedback, @macknight. I really enjoy painting and allway aim to get bether English aint my first laungish, and still being new at this. What do "ard coat" mean? Is it a Glaze, like Waywatcher Green? Do you mean the flesh on all the models? There is a fine highlight of Runefang Steel on the blads. But It dont show up very much on the photos | |
