Here's the rules.

Could this be a thing for us?

PROS...
40pts is quite cheap and you get a hell of a lot for those few pts.

Another piece of 4+ LOSB cover. -  Sweet! Doesn't look tall enough to completely hide our skimmers but  that's another 1 or 2 that don't have to jink and thats pretty dang awesome!

2 storm bolters. - Not bad.

3 barrels - 5+ cover, flamers become heavy, torrent. Not bad at all.

4 Crates - 5+ cover, units within 2" re-roll 1 to hit. Freaking Amazing!!!

4,5,6 results on the mysterious table (if you use those rules) are quite good.

CONS...
Box, crates, barrels, must all be deployed within 12"

Barrels have a very small chance of blowing up in you face.

1 result on mysterious table (if you use those rules) is quite bad. 2,3 is nothing.

Many, many possibilites here...
A talos unit with 4+ cover, tail guns rerolling 1s and torrent liquifiers holding this next to 2 objs. Shocked... drool.

4 crates giving a line of venoms/ravagers reroll 1s and some 5/4+ cover to boot. Very Happy

Torrenting D sythes. Twisted Evil

Thoughts, ideas?

We do not have flamers.

Only Flamers, heavy flamers and whatever else defined in the rulebook as flamers benefit from those drums. Being a template weapon doesn't make it a flamer, thus, neither D-Scythes nor Liquefiers benefit from it.

Oh well that completely sucks. Rolling Eyes

Anyway the extra LOSB (for infantry, reavers, and grots) and extra cover saves and 4 x 4" bubbles of re roll 1s goodness for skimmer spam, scourges and trueborn may still be worth a try.

The barrels might be good for Corsairs. They are actually the best equipped to use the fuel drums (and promethium pipes).

Take 1 cargo container for 40 points. Place a corpsthief claw formation of 5 Talos on top of it. Use space marines to launch box(terrain) across the table with their "move terrain" power. Profit as CtC charges on turn 1 from their cargo box/flying carpet for extra points from their formation.

Welcome to 7th Edition.

I'm not sure the boxes are large enough to hold an entire Corpsethief Claw.

Still. You monster.
