How does everyone deal with masses of marker lights, crisis suits, riptides and storm surges? What you do have to cling on to against these threats would be sheer turbo-boosting. The enemy strength lies in his range: he controls the board from a corner. (So much for the style of the most competitive 40k army.) Use the full speed of raiders and venoms to slip past enemy fire whilst closing in with him. Units like wyches and grots will slaughter regular Tau soldiers in combat. Staying on the offensive, moving the body of your army forward, aiming to take objectives on his field, is what might keep you alive. If you threaten or even claim one or more of the objectives that is key to him, it will force him into a very uncomfortable seat. He now has to put up a counter. He might even try to move his force, shifting it. This is the place you want him in.

Normal overwatch is already deadly for the wyches, you can imagine how it is with full BS.

Not to mention that even if the Wyches survive the overwatch they still have to gang up on Fire Warriors to kill those scary close combat masters! A charging Wych causes 0.5 unsaved wounds against a frikkin Fire Warrior!!

Assuming they don't have defensive grenades, then it's only 0.33 per wych To be fair they only do 0.125 back (averages of course) so outnumbered 2.5 or so to 1 wyches on average actually lose the combat.....against fire warriors, sooooooo sad. Pain engines, Grots and reavers do close combat pretty well in general, reavers are a bit more up hill against tau but small MSU units of them do can create some issues for tau having to remove cover from a 3 man unit. On a side note I've really been liking small mandrake units in general but really good against tau. It's true they can kill them whenever they want by turning off their cover, but then they aren't turning off cover on all our other units.
