Well thought i would start writting on here again. Been a long while.

Well i wanted to give off some of my tactics for winning tournaments and how i play The True Kin. Now i am not saying anyone else is wrong. Far from it this will be my little corner on what works for me. Because when it comes to dark eldar their are mutiple variations in play style. I will not talk about how good some units are over others nor will i talk at length of what everything does. Their are plenty of people who have done that already. As ive said this is what works for me.

So enough rambiling. Lets start out with my core of any list i play:

I always play with this unless i do really small games or am not using dark eldar primary. This is my start to turnament lists as its easy to use.

HQ
Usually a succubus with architite glave and a haywire grenade (100pts)

Troops

3x kabilite warrior units: 5 man blaster plus dracon with haywire (70pts)
Venome splinter cannon. (65pts)

Heavy support
3x ravagers with 3x DL (125)

Total that gives me 880 points more than enought to add allies or other formations

Obviously the wytch does not have a ride well she will go with another unit i would add. Usually a grotesquey (i think thats how it is spelled)

Well let me start off and say something about the kabilite warrior units. Yes i add the leader with a haywire. It serves two purposes. One he adds leadership to the unit which keeps them fighting longer till turn 5. Then he adds the abbility to kill walkers, knights, and drop pods. Let me say that again knights walkers and drop pods. He is amazing against these units especually pesky drop pods who are on objectives. In the shooting phase he throws a grenade with the blaster kabilite so I have the chance to remove 2 hull points then adds the ability to finish it off in assult. Really nasty. All for 15 points. Yes some games he does nothing. But he adds a tool box to my warrious that usually just go out to die against these units.

I do want to hear what you all think. I will talk more on some of my other tuches to some other units and how i use them. Till next time remember to keep paying your neighborhood haemonculus.

I've come around on the Sybarite with HWG. The times I've tried I've mostly been pleased with the results. The Venoms are the real stars of the unit with Kabalites sort of being a bonus unit(albeit an expensive one if you get too literal with my language) that can grab objectives/mop up that last hull point on annoying cheap enemy transports while your Dark Lance Raiders and Ravagers pick away at deadlier targets.

Hello, again

So let me start off and say I usually play at 1850, but can go up or down depending on were i go (usually 1500-2000).

so let me add the grotesquery to my army that i built above (since it is what i usually play)

x2 grots units 4 man leader with scissorhand (145)
in raiders with only Aethersails (60)

haemonculus (70)

so that is 475 add with the 880 i had earlier and total is 1355 from here it depends how i feel and what the point level is. If its 1500 i usually just add 1 more squad of Kabilites to round it out.

if its more i could add a small eldar element for bikes and some shinanagens.

so with the core of this list I will usually spread out in my deployment zone make use of cover and concealment and make it seem to my opponent i am not focusing on either side of his/her army. At the start of my turn i will move my grots as fast as i can to one side of their deployment zone. targeting support that hides back their. pink horrors, scouts, devistators, and anything else that is their in the backfield.
the rest of my army will move to that side while staying out of range of what the enemies gimik is. (ie grav cents, bike squad from death, flying circus, and knights)
what this does is puts their gimik out of position (usualy) forces them a secound/third turn were they can not do anything, meanwhile they have a choice to make, kill my grots who are killing their backfield or go after my army that is gonna win me the game. This really puts some opponents on the back foot they expect you to go after their gimik. then i will play a delay game till the game is over.

would love to hear what everyone else uses grotesquery and what other squads they love to use. I will go into how i use allies with eldar and what they bring to the fight next time. hopefully with some kind of pictures on how I deploy my army to distract my opponents.

well till next time remember to if you want wings red bull is temporary but your neighborhood haemonculus can make it a work of art.

As much as I like the idea (I definitely need more Ravagers!!) I'm not sure that you can throw a Grenade and use it in Assault when the faq hits anymore. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

What's your take on talos or Reavers?

so yes all it says you can only use one per squad in either phase, so one thrown and one in melee at least that is my understanding.

here is the quote from them verbatum "Only one model from the unit can attack with a grenade in the Assault phase. Per Warhammer 40,000: The Rules, ‘Only one grenade (of any type) can be thrown by a unit per phase’."

As for those two units. I love the talos, and reavers i do not use. i am going to start trying to figure them out and play them more often but i can not make judgment on them. I know others have had good experience with them.

the talos used to be my go to army. when it was 6th i used 2 with a chronos then added in allies with a eldar avatar and wraithnought (the smaller wraithnight thing forgot its name). so 5 monsturous creatures to soak up enemy fire as my units scoured objectives. (also had a beast pack). That was loads of fun but alas that was last eddition. I have not used them recently due to them not being painted.

I also have recently been pondering the Kabalite Warriors being used like this. I like it a lot that the Haywire adds so much. the guy who is running in first place inthe ITC is a guy who plays in my meta. he has taken Imperial Knight play to a high level and Vincent Price, another heavy user of them has also shown me their virtue. having more ways to affect those threats seems like a no brainer. They are so imposing and the Avenger cannon can do so much good, that you really need the help when it becomes impotant. It's not cheap. but attacks on LD are also a common thing such as Psychic Shrieks from Hemlocks for example (my Orks stood their ground but did get hit by that three different times in one game and it was nerve wracking).

I also think the Kabalites can fit as an anti-tank answer in this sense: The drop pod armies and especially the insane PROPOSED Drop pod FAQ make an ability to pop a Drop pod kind of a bigger deal than it was before they announced that. For those who dont know or arent aware of this ridiculum, go check the proposed FAQ. It's absurd. Getting trapped behind them and helpless would not be good.

I am not a typical user of Kabalites. I've never liked them better than the Wracks that used to be troops choices and then later, I preferred the Coven tothe normal Dark Eldar anyways. So net result, I have used them scarcely. but now that I am using normal Dark Eldar more in games, they are making a comeback in my lists and my most recent creation (30 Striking Scorpions to accompany my Dark eldar to war) makes much better use of the Kabalites than any of my other lists would have.

anywho, thanks for posting this up. look forward to hearing more from you. Join us in the chat box, bottom of the main webpage, when you can!
