| Heyo fellow Commorrites and denizens of the Webway,
I'm looking to spice up my DE lists with some Corsairs, as they are all the rage right now, and honestly they really feel almost more DE than DE at times.
I'm looking to make my Prince a CC moster, and am already aware of his use with a Jetbike, but what are your thoughts on him picking up a Jetpack, or going on foot in a transport?
Is the Prince viable in a Jetpack squad, and if so which group does he meld best with? What about in transport with a unit like Incubi? Malevolents?
Edit: I might add that I don't know the complete loadout or stats for the Prince, as I'm waiting for my book.

| For a close combat Prince, I would run - jetbike, void sabre, combat drugs, shadow field - cheap and Killy , you can also do jetbike, shadow field, shard of Anaris . | |

| Jetbike, sabre, shadow field, lvl 1 psyker (divination) plus the upgrade that gives him rage and rampage | |

| I get it, I get it! Take the damnable Bike!
But...what if I was tired of dudes on bikes, what about a good Jetpack loadout and retinue?
Edit: What about a Jetpack prince running with Malevolents and summoning Daemons out of his rear?

| I'm actually going to try leading each band of dude-mans with a psyker (be it upgraded Baron for bikes, or void weavers for Reavers) in my next corsairs list.
I think I prefer keeping to cheap(er) Lvl 1 casters, as the perils table is so volatile. Especially with deamon summoning (which I don't plan on doing myself, but see how it could be a lot of fun for sure) you're bound to hit a lot of Perils, and I wouldn't want to lose my Prince to that, let alone have him (or her) turn against me.
The thing about a CC load-out is that for a relatively low investment beyond the jet pack, the bike gives you far more speed and a better armor save (not that that matters much as a Shadow Field is almost guaranteed). Plenty of things are fine, good, even "great" in combat, but just have such trouble 'getting there' that they're not worth taking. The bike means you'll be able to assault about anything on the table T2. That's huge. If corsairs had any really-really great units that only had 'packs as an option, then I could see wanting to use them as a retinue, but in my eye everything just ends up turning into an expensive T3 unit. Malevolents being the most survivable, probably, are still a S3 assault unit. They can take some decent weapons, but in terms of oomph, is it really worth the investment? Plus the whole non-scoring and neg ld bubble thing...
Long story short, so far I've used a few ablative Jetbikes as a retinue and it's been glorious.

| Remember that you're limited to one Dreamer per detachment.
I think malevolents make a good retinue (because the prince is pretty squishy), but an allied team of something would be much better.

Quite true... I've lately been leaning toward smaller games (1k or so) so this hasn't been a big issue... between only requiring 1 troop per coterie, and having the extra HQ in the command crew, I've been able to have each squad (of Reavers/Dancers) have a joined character. Basically choose the crew benefit based on what extra choices are in the Coterie, and I believe it would scale at least to 1850 or so having probably 4 solid troop choices and plenty of other toys. Mind, I run (at least for Reavers) full squads... this wouldn't be possible with MSU lists.

| Ya, I was thinking over things and realized that a T3 unit is gonna get eaten alive both in an out of CC, no matter how many wounds they have, as S6 weapons are ruling the meta currently.
Jimsolo, and others, do you think Incubi would be a good retinue for a corsair prince, or am I pushing a sisyphian idea around wishing to put the prince on anything other than a bike?

| Yeah I love the Bike, Shadow Field, Void Sabre and Rampage/Rage lord.
I don't consider him a combat monster, but he is good for killing non cc specialist units.

| Admittedly I haven't played a game to see how well this actually works, but I've got two ideas for my Prince.
1: Webway portal, Void Sabre, Jetpack, Shadowfield in a unit of Malevolents with a Void Dreamer with Shimmershield & ML2. Sprint up the board as close as you can to the enemy and drop the webway portal, through which you can bring all sorts of nasty allied units like Wraithguard or the like.
2: Jetbike, Void Sabre, Shadowfield, Mask of Secrets in an allied Jetseer Council. Use to tank wounds/provide ld debuff so you can murder things with psychic shriek/lend weight to assaults.

| The key generator only allows Corsair units to deploy - not allied models | |

| Yeah, I got that wrong. Didn't have access to the direct wording which specifically prohibits that sort of shenanigans. Only use for it in an allied detachment would be attaching a Prince and a Void Dreamer to two separate units to allow them to no-scatter deep-strike.
Still, two units of Wraithguard with a 5++ from a shimmershield jumping out right in the middle of your opponents army sounds pretty scary to me. Three with an allied Archon/Succubus/Haemy.

| If you go Ancient Treasures and get the real WWP, then your wraithguard can use their D flamers with a no scatter DS. Very nasty, especially considering the unit is T6, 3+ 5++ (and maybe FNP if you throw in a Haemi) | |

| Real WWP is not on an eligible pull list for Ancient Treasures. It's Arcane Wargear, Ancient Treasures doesn't give access to that list, only the "Artifacts of Cruelty". You need to bring a DE HQ to do it. It works but is expensive. | |
