Won 16 man ITC Event with Full Harlequin List. :)

So I took a Straight Harlequin list to a local 40k Tourney and BARELY pull off 1st. I couldn't believe it.

Game 1: Win 9-3
List was against 1 Forgeworld KNight Sorry forgot the name. Had a large blast that if he rolled a 6 it created a Vortex buble that moved around the board and on a 1 it damaged itself. Plus a 8 inch beam D weapon
Plus 5 Space Wolve DreadNaughts in drop bods and 2 Mortors guns.
Turn 1
He got first turn and dropped in with 3 Dreadnoughts and killed a bunch of troupes with Flamers, OUCH. My retaliation though Killed 2 Dreadnoughts and 1 Drop pod, plus the Knight got Fog of Dreams casted on him. (knights hate that)

Turn 2
1 more dread shows up but makes the mistake of putting him on the far side of the table.in his deployment zone (ignored for the rest of the game) and Bejorn that was stuck in HTH with a troupe unit finishes off the unit. Bejorn down 1 wound. The knight charges the solitare and the solitare does 3 wounds. Nothing back. Solitare hits and runs out. Voidweaver is taken out do to meltagun.
My turn, Shooting causes 2 wounds to the KNight, another drop pod dies and the Solitare recharges the knight and finishes him off.

Turn 3
The other Drop Pod with Murderfang shows up and lands on my obective. Morter kills off a bike squad. Solitare Blitzes accross the board to his objective and assaults one of the morters, Shadow weaver casts Phychic shriek on another causing 5 wounds. All my troupes are dead but 1 who happens to be my warlord and is running away from Murderfang.

Time ends
We Drew on the Primary for 2 Points each
I won maelstrom for 4 Points
Got Slay the warlord and LineBreaker
He got Line Breaker

Game 2: Win 10 -2
Was kind of a mixed bag of stuff. Was really wierd.
Deamonkin with 2 squads of Cultist, Hearald of Khorne, 2 Hell Drakes, 4 Mauler Fiends, Chaos Knight.

Turn1
I got the +4 to steal the initiative so I made him deploy first then stole. I sat back and shot sitting at 23-24 inches making sure he couldnt get a charge off. I did get Fog of dreams off on the kNight. I only caused 1 wound and killed 1 cultist. His turn he attempted 4 10+ inch charges. he actually made one with the Knight of all things on the Bikes but I actually gave that to him. It was actually a ploy to draw the knight away for a turn. Worked. 2 Bikes were killed in the charge though.

Turn 2
However didnt go well for him. 1 Mauler Fiend dies to shooting and 1 Unit of Cultist looses 1 man to a Death Jester and runs off the board. 3 Troupes all charge a mauler fiend. Solitare also charged the Alpha with a unit. 2 Mauler fiends die in HTH but the Alpha with a 4++ save suvives.
In his turn 1 of the Hell drakes shows up and Vector strikes a Star Weaver and then flames another and 2 bikes. 1 Wound on the bikes. Solataire and unit finish off the Alpha.

Turn 3
Solataire Charges(Blitz) the knight alone and causes 2 wounds. Does nothing back. other cultist squad takes fire and looses a few. Warlord unit tries to charge but failes. Everything else fires at the Hell Drake but only does 1 HP.
Other Hell Drake Shows up and flames the Warlord Unit and kills all but the warlord and 1 troupe. Puts a wound on the Warlord. The other helldrake flames the Death Jester in the middle and kills him and the Soitaire doesn another point on the Knight with nothing back (LOVE Fog of dreams) Hits and runs out.

Turn 4
Warlord finds a nice place to hide and the everything fires at the back of the hell drake and doesn nothing. 1 troupe charges the other cultist killing everything but the Warsmith. Solitare Chareges the Knight again and gets him to 1 HP. However the knight finally gets a 6 on the stop and kills him out.
His Turn he kills a void weaver with the KNight Charging and the Troupe finish off the Cultist. One of the HellDrakes couldnt move anywhere to get shots off the. Other went into Hover mode and killed the warlord and the troupe with hiim

Primary = 4 points to me
Maelstrom = 4 Points to me
I got Line breaker, Kill the Warlord.
He got Warlord and LineBreaker

Ok. I had one of the best Games I have ever played at this Tourney and I wanted to share. This just proves how Over powered the Solitaire for Harlequins truly is.

This was the most freaking Brutal game ever. 4 Knights. 1 Was a forgeworld knight that allowed all knight within 12 to over watch and got a STR6 ap2 heavy 6 Gun.
Both Phycers got Fog of dreams and saved my butt.
One thing to point out that my shooting was next to ineffective the entire game. Haywire grenades was the only thing that really did anything.

TURN1
He Got first turn and killed a voidweaver(with a 3+ rerollable Jink save) and a Starweaver and 3 of the 5 troupe . Last 2 will go on to kill a knight. Caused a bike unit and another star weaver unit to Jink but didnt get anything else. I was well hidden and He couldnt get a lot of shots off.
I came out of hiding and got Fog of dreams off on one of the Dual Battle Cannon Knights. Both the remaining Star weavers moved 12 then Turbo Boosted to get right up in the faces. He had 0 Flamers so I was lucky there, 1 Bike Unit turbo boosted behind him. Knew He would have to deal with them and pull 1 knight away from the Group, divide and Conquer.

Turn 2
He blows up both star weavers but I go lucky and only lost 4 between the 2 units. 1 Unit only lost 1 model. The bikes I threw to the back were wiped out. Oh well. He charged 1 of the units and killed them but they put 3 HP on him before going down.
Shooting did nothing but I got Fog of dreams off on his Warlord. The other one I casted with 4 dice and got 4 ones. I Blitzed the Solitaire(so should have saved that for turn 4) and the 2 from the first blown up Starweaver into the HTH night that can throw vechiles. It was the same one that only had 3 HP left and they killed him. Blew up off the board. The 4 Man Troupe unit failed a charge on the Warlord.

Turn 3
His Shooting was ineffective here as the one was across the board dealing with the bikes. He 1 Dual battlecannon shot at the DeathJester but with a 2+ Cover he was good. He does attempt to run with his warlord. 1 knight does attempt to charge a voidweaver and fails a 4 inch charge.
Got Fog of dreams off on 1 knight (He was cursing that power and the Solitare at this point (Jokingly)) The 4 Man troupe and the Solitare charged his warlord and Killed him. And a Death Jester and a Solitare both Charged another and between throwing the grenades and then charging Caused 3 Wounds. He had a Voidweaver just behind him and was more scared of that so that is where he put his Shield. The knight wiffed his attacks but then stomped the shadowweaver. They were 2 far apart for him to get both and only rolled 1 Stomp. daeth Jester held the one knight in CC to keep him from Shooting. Another Shadow weaver had to fall back to my table half to take an objective.

Turn 4
He finished off the Death Jester in HTH and the other KNight kills the 2 Man troupe that was holding an objective near the back.
The Solitare and his new unit that he was moving with(Couldnt Join) then Charged another knight and put 4 wounds on it. He hits the Solitare 3 times and he saves them all and he rolled badly for stomps, think he killed 1 Troupe. He was mostly concentraing on trying to kill the Solitare. The Death Jester and shadowweaver attempt to kill the other one off and got it down to 1 HP and the Death Jester failed the charge. Shadowweaver was killed in HTH and wasnt able to finish it off.

Turn 5
The 1 loose Knight moves on to my objective and and shoots the Bikes Hiding in the back taking an objective. No Wounds but he kills the death jester with Stubber fire. Solitare and unit kill off the other Knight in HTH but the explosion kills the Solitare and 2 of the troupe. Only thing left standing is the troupe master.

Troupe master moves 6, runs 6, Then makes a 9 inch charge on the Last Knight. I only need to roll 1 6 and he does nothing and dies.

Game ends with 1 Knight with 1 HP and a unhurt squad of bikes.
Primary = He wins 4 Points
Maelstrom = I win 4 Points
He Got Slay the warlord
I got Slay the Warlord.

Best Game I ever Played it was fun as heck.

Ok So things I have learned from this Tourney.

1. Knights HATE Fog of dreams.
2. Solitaire is the BOMB!
3. Carress are just awesome
4. I really want to see about fitting another troupe unit in.

It was a blast fo a Tournament. It was a toy for tots so the entry fee was a $15 toy. The store gave out prize support.

Also it says we tied in the list. I won due to Strength of Schedule.

So clearly the Solitare was your MVP. You think the Hero Path formation is worth loosing out on the IC status?

Grats and well done! I love Harlies for the models and currently in the process of adding them into my army. Solitaire is a beast against IKs, WKs and all manner of beastly stuff.

Death Jester is superuseful for us and the Seer... well no need to be specific. :-)

Yes the Hero's Path is a Must. With the speed of the Solitaire he can get to almost any cover on the board.

Yes Lots of Carress, these days with Rerollable saves the best thing is to not allow them to have saves, So they cant reroll it. Just the wait of rolls. Each time I charged a Knight I charged with another unit. You are looking at on the charge. 8 For Solitaire, 5 for Troupe Master, 4 each for each Troupe.

I have been Carefully Watching Skari and every game he has been playing with his and I have been testing pretty much every formation.

I always leave 1(5 man)or 2(6 man) with just standard CC. Everything else is Carress. You plan on loosing 1-2 Models to overwatch so why waste extra points on models that will not use them.

Haywire Grenades on All Death Jesters, Solitaires, and Shadow Weavers.

Things I know from my experience.
Hero's Path is a must.
Faolchu's Blade is really Good as well. You can replace the Void Weaver for The Serpent's Breath to give it a little extra Survivability. BS 5 with Reroll of Jinks. Do NOT put The Blades of Fate in here as you are wasting the bonus.
I like 3 Shadow Weavers and usually give the 1 Telepathy(usually the one with the Mask) and the other 2 take Phantasmancy. This was a smaller tourney and could only fit 2.
Death Jesters are Iffy. One game they do nothing but look pretty. Next game they run 2x 20 man Necron Warrior units off the board. They can win a game for you or do nothing at all.

The Death Masque units are a mixed bag. Inriam's Spectre (dont put him in Heros path), The Blades of Fate, and The Serpents Breath are all good Replacements. The 2 Troupe units are so bad they arent worth it, which in turn makes The Coherian host bad and not worth it. Yes mix in the first three but ignore the 2 Troupe. I did a test with them the other day against Necrons and lost, you dont roll a 6 enough to save much and the tax for those 2 units is just horrible. I am currently Breaking Arms on models so that I can switch them over to Carresses.

This is great news. You had an awesome run! I highly rate the Caress on my Troupe Masters and Solitaire. Maybe some of the iconic Harlequin Kisses need to be re-worked for my Harlequin Troupe players.

Can you explain the strength of schedule concept?

I'm looking at 4-5 Troops personally, your list seems so... small in numbers a couple fast questions about this.

Did only having 3 troops hurt you at all?
Having 2 Shadowseers and 2 Death Jesters make a difference?
Where did you place your Inriam's Spectre and Extra Shadowseer? In a troop/bike/solo?
How was the Pistol on your Shadowseer? Did the 10pts actually help you?

Actually i would love to have gotten another troope in there. I think it would have helped a lot.

All of the shadow seers and death jesters were solo. Most had stealth. The shadow seer that didnt just found a spot out of line of site. Poped out just enough to caste powers and ran back in.

Pistol, i had 3 match with high vehicle counts. The pistol was useless the entire tourney. So i cant say much to that.

Im taking Harlequins to tournaments this summer and any info on tournament play with them is great.

Yeah I dont think I'll add the pistol to them, but I agree with HWG all over the place. My local seems to be very high with vehicles too.

My plan was to get 4-5 Troop units in, I know you are playing at 1500pts so its al ittle difference compare to 1850. I think I'd rather play 1500 honestly, I say a post from Reese's saying they want to move ITC to 1650pts so games can finish faster. (I feel 1500 is a more balanced game even tho my local likes 2-3k games lol, they just want to play with more toys honestly).

Ive been playing HWC on my bikes due to SO much vehicles.
I think i'm going to go shuriken now like you, I also had an idea to ally in Corsairs for 2 Hornets and a Warp Hunter to give me a few Long Range AT/AI that way If I fight Necrons or Tau I can stay out of range for a turn for 2 and at least kill something or put pressure on. its a 525pts ally list, so I would be playing 1,325 Harlequins, I would take the Masque CAD with C'Jest and Heroes Path but I wouldnt take 5 Caress like I like too, it would be 3 and No upgrades on HWG on Troupe Masters.

I have been researching getting more in as well. I can tell you and play tested that the Death Masque Fromation in a whole is worthless. The 2 Troope choices you get in there are horrible and no where near worth it.

I was thinking the Masque CAD and a Cegorach's Jest (1 Troupe, 1 unit Bikes 1 Voidweaver) and The Heroes Path with 1 more Shadowseer+Inriams spectre.

This is 1500pts, Honestly at 1850 I could then just take more bikes and HWG on troupe masters, if I do it that way its 4 troupes and 6 bikes.

I think I'd still rather have 5 troupes tho.

I have a 1850pts list with 7 troupes+transport,  3 heavys, The blades of Faith and a couple Shadowseers, but.... Lack of Haywire and bikes (thats ok I just need to melee more). I could take out the Cegorachs and add the heroes path tho. I think I will.

Why did you run the Blades of Fate in the Faolchu's Wing formation? That Formation already allows a reroll to Jink. Seems like a waste of points. Unless there is some other benefit I am missing out on? I too have been running the F.Wing Formation and the Glaive bikes have been doing wonders. I also upgraded the Voidweaver to the Formation from Death Masque to get BS 5 and it does wonders for the Prismatic Cannon

You are exactly right, That was just a waste of points. Not sure how it happened but you should never put the Blades of Fate in the Faolchu formation. I think it was just an oversite on my part, I just got them painted and was anxious to get them in. Do to the way things turned out They were in the Masque detachment but I was forced to move them and didn't put 2 and 2 together.

How important were your bikes? They are so costly but Power weapon on the charge S5 is something I keep coming back to, I personally dont like bikes b.c for 65ptd more I get a Troupe and a Vehicle with the same weapons. But lol again I like the S5 melee with ap.

Well the bikes didn't do anything in the 3 games I played BUT I think they can do well. I think small 2 man units are probably not good. I would go to 4 man units if I could. Right now I just don't have the models.

I will be upgrading the none Blades of Fate unit to 4 man.

For me they havent been doing to much, I'll try them again I have a tournament ITC format this weekend and 3 more within the next 3-4 months I practice my lists every week sometimes 2-3x a night lol. (we have a hang out club with 20ish friends that all play Table top games, Bloodbowl, 40k and Kill team Heralds of Ruin is normal to see, we mostly talk but 6-7 play per night and sometimes we are there for 12hrs a day, it is easy to get 2 games in, They all are highly competitive players, many placing top 5 in local tournaments with what we considered tone down lists).

I have had real positives with my Harlie bikes. The multiple attacks at WS 5 is very good. Also, when running them in a Faolchu's Wing they can Jink and still be just as effective in close combat. for 120pts they have survived much better than I thought. I don't throw them in with a bunch of Str. 8 guys but they can hold their own with Int 6 and Str. 5. If not Jinking, the extra Cannon shots are really sweet too.

Had a couple test games yesterday (A couple more tonight) I changed how I was plying the bikes and I like them alot now, Im including 2 units of them.

Play a game last night against a Space Marine with a ton of units in Rhinos. Library Conclave, Formation that allows units to jump out and get back in, inquisitor allies. 2000 Points

It was a rough fought game but I pulled it off in the end. I got first turn and took out 2 Rhinos. Bad rolling. His turn didn't do much better, Lost a starweaver and then he took out 1/2 the squad that jumped out, and a wound on a 4 man bike squad.

Thanks for the valuable batrep! It's really helpful for me to retrieve my harlequins I'm gonna carefully read all of this with enough time.

BTW, I've already asked the same issue on this thread, but is it allowed to bring Inriam's Specter & Serpent's Breath to the masque detachment?
