| For what it's worth, Incubi are better than Grotesques in one important aspect for many players; Incubi don't cost £15+ per model. Sometimes, using Grotesques instead just isn't an option. | |

| You don't buy finecast grotesques. You build them using crypt horrors and talos bits | |

| Or you buy old Rat Ogres and convert them with leftover Talos bits.
Or you buy the 3rd Ed metal ones on eBay for a couple of bucks.

Yeah, they were my first choice but I hate the plastic that PP use for their models and overall I prefer my second batch, made using Crypt Horrors instead.

| I've got a good number of the old metal ones but I'd assumed they were unusable now because of the difference in size to the current model. | |

Yeah, I'd have problems with them on that basis too.

Yeah, I'd have problems with them on that basis too. As in problems using them yourself, or as in an opponent using them?

| I have some experience with using old much smaller models (old tyranids so as in much much smaller).
I think if you play casually no one will mind. There is sometimes someone who makes a comment about it, but it is seldom a problem. Quite a few older people actually really enjoy it since it gives them some nostalgic feelings. Now I must say, my lists are usually fun to play against, and not just netlisting/ spamming op units (If I fielded only dakkafexes and flyrants their opinion might be different). But if you make an nice army and have some older smaller models in there I never had much problems with it. The only people who actually had problems with it were the once who had extremely cheesy lists and I would rather not play against again. I think the people who complain the hardest are the ones who would model their own army for those small advantages and are jelous because you accedentally have some minor advantage. Now I must say I try to play friendly people and it has been a while since I went to a tournament (in Holland, so slightly less competetive then some other places). So it might be that locally people react different, the more easy going you are the less likely they are to make a problem of it.
