By the looks of things the Soulbound Vanguard is 4 (or 2?) Dire Avengers, 1 Wyches, 1 Incubi.

The Aeldari (shudders) Bladehost is Wyches, Storm Guardians and Harlies.

My fears are coming true. I really hope we and harlequins get the standalone decurion we so badly need and not just a bunch of nonsensical "aeldari" formations...

Oh well, at least we get 3 new CGs out of this. I guess I will be happy if one of them is usable in competitive play and I can ditch Llhamaeans one and for all.

I am more worried about the half fuzzy numbers in the formation box... Is it 6 and 7 units of something?

It's probably in the 1-6 category instead of 6 or nothing.

Someone on Dakka thinks the formation rules for the Soulbound includes WS/BS buff if joined by an IC of some sort, and also begets Furious Charge to units within a single-digit distance.

Strength 4 base Wyches from furious charge and drugs aren't so bad anymore.

The first special rule in the second page does something in the fight sub-phase, but I can't decipher what.

Notice they're facing daemonettes. Might signal incoming slaaneshi stuff too.

Well if we look at the imperium triumvirate and the first fall of cadia book, those formations required more then one imperium faction to work however each of those faction were there own thing and haven't been forced into one book, I'd say it's safe to say they aren't going to go full AoS on the Aelidari and make them one faction under a single banner but just give us good formations and rules outside of "battle brothers" to combine the three armies while still giving us new codex's for each army to be run on their own with the new IC charactees, but I am not GW and what makes sense to me might not be in their line of thinking, but it is nice to see dark eldar getting some love even if it means it has to come with our craftworld cousins

I see us being Dark Eldar: an Aeldari subsidiary, member of the Order Group LLC by the time 8th comes out.

Eh, my brother is a Craftworld player and I play actual Eldar. Whenever he comes down to visit we always get in an apocalypse game as allies, so this should provide some entertaining shenannigans to stick it to the Fish Commies with.

I will echo the sentiment that hopes for some monofaction playability with the formations included. Just because I find Craftworlder's angst at my raiding hilarious doesn't mean I always want someone watching. "You can't eat their souls, that's wrong, they're sentient too, blah blah blah."

I don't see how +1 WS, BS when joined by an expensive IC and furious charge will help wyches and incubi much.

Wyches need rewrite, Incubi can use a grenade effect. Non of the flat buff to some stats would fix them.

That would only make em better at what they do now - and in case of Wyches, its doing nothing.

They really don't. They just need a usr that straight up gives them +2 to power from pain.

Getting back on topic I think those incubi have alternate head sculpts too.

Well...WS5 S4 Incubi for one thing...

Grotesques are still 8+ points per wound cheaper, +2 toughness and unitwide rampage. Offensively this makes them slightly better offensively, hitting most everything on 3s, and same to wound but no rerolls. So ~16% better offensively in some cases, less against anything T4 or less with a 3+ or worse, but are still ~48% less efficient in terms of survivability.

Looking forward to the new formations, personally don't see any reason to believe we'll become less prominent as a faction and cautiously optimistic that the new book will interest more players in Dark Eldar, which I don't see as a bad thing.

Plus I'm going halves with my Craftworld playing friend and we're looking forward to teaming up.

That explicitly isn't our new name. We will have a completely different one and the Eldar words for eldar and dark eldar are still eldar and dark eldar so the name is totally irrelevant.

Not real clear yet, but what we can make out on the one on the left is:

* if joined by the Visarch or emissary they get +1 bs/ws
* also get furious charge if within X" of another unit from the formation
* bonuses to something called Soulbound Actions, probably similar to Canticles

Okay? If the source wasn't Jes himself I'm not sure I care. Furthermore: so were elves in End times, but aelves aren't really in AoS... as I've pointed out to you repeatedly. So instead of continuing to bash my head against a wall I'm just going to ignore you until 8th/Age of teh emprah comes out and your wrong and then I'll say I told you so. Stick around.

Although I am happy to see some stuff finally come out for us, it makes me worried that there may not Decurion coming to DE...

The gist I was told was the faction merging is pretty straight across. So Craftworlders and Harlequins are in the same boat, essentially we will all have one third of a much larger army rather than a complete smaller one. Rules wise this is basically the logical conclusion of 7ths allies matrix. Fluff wise it's End Times with a 2x4 to our grittyness and depth to make it work. Dark Eldar scatbikes and Wraithknights would be legal apparently.
