I think the broken arch and whirling stones are what makes it god of the dead.

I think a Combined detachment is quite reasonable, it fits to what we have seen with Part one of the GS and it is a nice way to combine two smaller armies.
If you establish a base for both(all three) armies, then if you bringt out a new unit for one, then all benefit.
I am liking the Visarch more and more. Paint him in Incubi colors and give him a Klaive and count him as the Klaivex, that's probably what I am going to do.

I think the potential fluff developments put recent fluff events in the Dark City in a potential new light (Khaines Gate).

The minis are not bad.

The chick with the cat is totally ripping off lady malys.

Lady M finally got her model boissssa!

Why is everyone obsessed with lady malys? Yes the model fits her old desription, but guess what, we lost her with our current dex, get over it.

How many people actually used her in a game? It was always the duke or Baron heck even Vect seen the ta or more than lady Malys

Well I guess I need to figure out how I'm going to pay for these models, I'm liking them and think they will go great with my Dark Eldar, Harlequins, and Corsairs.

I mean if they wanna merge us into Eldar overfaction I guess we will be the taxi service again.

I used her in my grot bomb. She was integral at preventing things like force.

That said, the only thing in common with malys is the fan and her gender. It's not like she invented the fan, pretty sure other models can have one and not be her.

I think any characters we get will be new, at least in name and fluff. They existed in an era without a model which means GW will not bring them back. Thank Chapterhouse for that one.

I have to say from what I can see it all looks super cool! And I am very much looking forward to how the story progresses, it'd be nice to see something happen and its about time She Who Thirsts got her butt kicked by some epic Aeldari!

Conversion, conversion AND conversion ahead !

Disclaimers first: I like the idea of us getting a campaign book, I have no problem with us sharing it with the Craftworlders and the Harlequins, and I have no problem with the factions of the Eldar teaming up as Battle Brothers under the current system, let alone with potential shared detachments and stuff.

(I actually gave away my Craftworld Eldar and Harlequins to a friend, and playing doubles with him is lots of fun)

So I was probably always going to be more positive about this than some others.

That being said, my initial reactions to the models:

Yvraine: Not sure.  That hat is OTT and I'm not sure why she's tiptoeing around barefoot.  However, after a few more looks she's definitely growing on me.  The hat may have to go, however.

The Visarch: Amazing.

The Yncarne: I'm not keen, and not just because I have no hope of painting that.  He puts me too much in mind of the Deceiver.

I'm really looking forward to hearing more about the book now!

I can still see them ending up as Malys and Yriel, the biggest argument most people put against it now is their own projections on what 40K is and/or should be. (Yes, I have seen the facebook post where they said these are new characters, and whilst it may turn out they are absolutely telling the truth, they wouldn't be the first company to use obfuscation as a marketing tool.)

The yncarne is a they. Even if you're a closeminded binarist who rejects the use of singular they as the consumed eldar and ynnead both have a gender. Ynnead's assigned gender is male. whether that is accurate remains to be seen.

This person is right we can't assume the model's gender. This is the current year.

Haha! I called Malys when we first saw the pic of the cloak with the raider pattern and soulstones! And if anyone's saying 'but she's called Yvraine'...come on...it's blatantly Malys.

Harlequin connection, obviously some big-shot Dark Eldar, and name one other character or model in the entirety of 40k that holds a fan. It's 100% Malys. I'd bet the cost of these new models on it.

As for the models themselves they're exactly what I expected, having seen what Cawl and Celestine look like, and seeing the general direction of 40k models towards more bling. My first gut reaction was 'these models do nothing for me'.

Then, I thought 'hang on, I've never liked named characters in general. Perhaps it's just that bias. Look at them again. Properly this time'.

Now, they're definitely growing on me I really like the whole oriental-morphine-den-matriarch look of 'not-Malys'. Love that she walks around barefoot too. Very Lelith. Very Dark Eldar

Not-Yriel was the one I was happiest with on the first viewing, and I've stayed happy the more I've looked him. If I get them I shall shave off his weird bat-ears, paint him a different colour and be very happy with the model

I'm conflicted about the Avatar of Ynnead. I love the Slaaneshi connection, but without seeing the background fluff I can't help but feel like they've missed a trick (or got it slightly skee-wiff). The model would fit absolutely perfectly as a 'High Solitaire', given that it's implied that Solitaires' powers come from stealing a little bit of Slaanesh's power. The quasi-daemonic look is utterly perfect for that.

However, I feel like they had the opportunity to make a 'High Solitaire' separate from an 'Avatar of Ynnead', and done something proper creepy/grimdark death-space-elf befitting the champion of a nascent God of Death. I shall have to make my own!

Depending on the price, I shall probably buy them. I like not-Malys, and not-Yriel, and the High Solitaire (going to call him that from now on) would make the perfect basis for my Croneworld unfettered Eldar psyker (counts-as Lord of Change).
