1250 Starter List

The game shop near me in Roanoke is hosting a 1250 pt. newbie tourney. This is the list I'm planning to run. Any criticisms and advice would be welcome.

Edit: the wyches were in raiders i just forgot to list them.

Are the wyches on foot??? If so I would highly find a way to get them in a transport, maybe even going as far as droping the Reavers to do so (you really need those transports)

By doing that I would drop the razorwing to a ravager to balance out your AT, but to each their own.

Also get agonisers on those wyches. The static 1 wound a round helps out alot, especially since your only running 7.

What do you see as the purpose of your Wyches? I'm getting a mixed read considering how they're built - what do you hope they'll be doing during the course of the game?

Well seeing that you have Shardnets on the Wyches the look like they are for tarpiting but with the Venom Blades you are trying to do as much wounds as possible. Try and pick one of these and go with it. If you want tarpitting go with the Shardnets. If you want alot of wounds go with Hydra Gauntlets.

Alright, first the easy stuff.

The Ravager is a great choice, especially at lower pts levels such as these, as their DLs are the cheapest we can field. The Razorwing, on the other hand, could easily be considered overkill on AI, especially since you have plenty of Venoms in your list. I understand it's a great model and you really want to field it but I strongly recommend saving it for larger games. This is also an easy way to shave points.

It's hard to argue with Blasterborn, but again, if you purely want Darklight, Ravs are the better buy. Similarly the Venom Warrior squads are considered 'efficient' choices, but keep in mind that single blaster is HIGHLY unlikely to pop a transport when you need it to. Might wanna swap one (or both) of those out for Raiders instead, but the balance here is tricky.

Tacked the Reavers on here as well, because I have to ask: what would these guys do for you that 5 Warriors w/ blaster in a DL Raider couldn't? Never underestimate the value of a Scoring unit (above all else, I'm tempted to say).

Big Wych squads are great (I like them a little bigger, but considering your pts limit this might not be feasible). I also think Succubi are great. But... when it comes to delivering PW (Ago) attacks, Hekatrii are MUCH better vessels. Of course you need an HQ choice but that's where the Haemy comes in - Wyches really benefit from the Pain token. Also, the gals do great with Haywires - not if the Succubus is the only one packing them though!
