| Hey, those hawks look really cool! They almost look like dark eldar MUCH better than the official color scheme! | |

| Those Swooping Hawks are really nice, ESE. I like seeing old models getting some love. | |

| Thanks Cavash! I'm finally getting off my duff and getting these bigguns' ready for paint: My daughter's due date is today. Clearly she is going to be late for everything just like her mother In the meantime I will keep assembling big things to paint until my free time ends forever. | |

| Loving the work you've done so far ESE.
I have always wanted to give BFG a try but there is no way I can justify the costs for a DE of CWE fleet on places like eBay.

There's no going back once you play it. Hell, I even picked up an Imperial fleet recently. I received this model today as a congratulatory gift celebrating the birth of my daughter. I absolutely had to convert it on the spot and paint. A big thanks to a certain resident of Perth, you should expect to see this guy painted up in under 48hrs I magnetized the arms so that I can do up a regular power sword and fusion gun option as soon as I figure out where that FW Corsair weapon kit is that I purchased long ago...

| Nice work on the clam pack Autarch. That head swap changes the model's silhouette so much, it makes more likeable compared to the original model. | |

| It's hard to tell. but I used the Shimmershield arm from the DA exarch and a hand/catapult from the other exarch arm to make sure that the model still had a force shield on it when I used the power spear from the DA kit. I've only been able to sneak an hour or so over the last few days, but there is a little progress to show for it: | |

| It looks great ESE. All the little changes look so good. The skin tone looks phenomenal as well. I actually think the Autarch with wings is a nice combination. With a Hawk Exarch + Power Spear, (or even Baharroth if you wanted to go all out) you have a nice little skirmishing unit that can rip into infantry units when the going gets tough. That 18" movement is insane for purposes of CC its something I want to try out myself. | |

Holy crap, the Eldar have SO MANY stupidly good pieces if wargear that I totally forgot about the 18" movement I should have enough time to finish the Autarch up today...provided my daughter cooperates

| Your Autarch looks lovely. Can;t wait to see how the Scorpion comes out. I have always been a big fan of that model/unit. | |

| The paint job is looking great ESE. What colours have you used for the Autarch's cloak? I may have to use it myself, if possible. | |

| Thank you for the kind words! I'm slowly getting the bug to paint DE/CWE again. I'd been pretty burned out on painting them in general after not being able to play games for the last couple of months with the coming/birth of the baby. - kabal_jagged_eye wrote:

I've been using Minitaire Raven Black straight out of the bottle, even though it is an airbrush paint. Not sure if I have a bad batch as it usually is quite a bit thinner. I've been having to thin all of my Minitaire paints to spray them which is annoying. The LFGS just got the entire line of Vallejo Air in...I might be switching soon. Like today. For the cloak I use the Minitaire Raven Black mixed with Screamer Pink as a base. I blend in more Screamer pink as I work up. Now idea what the blending that technique I use is called (I'm just not fancy like that ) but I basically apply a slightly thin layer, go back to the palette and mix in more Screamer Pink with the same brush, apply more of the lighter mix immediately with the same brush. Using a wet palette lets you do this almost all the way through the highlights while giving you a pretty smooth finish. Once it gets to pure Screamer Pink I should have switched brushes for the highlights mixing in Karak Stone, but I kept using the same brush getting the slightly less smooth final highlights. I used to use Kommando Khaki for the highlight mix, but my final pot of that paint is MIA. Hope that helps. I've been thinking of getting some sort of a stand for my camera so that I can make a painting video or two? There are far better painters out there that produce fantastic videos, but I might be able to show methods that help get armies done on the quick. With the baby, teaching responsibilities resuming, and the podcast this might not be practical This is where that Autarch is as of last night, minus the blue glaze that I applied to the armor and bronze highlights after I snapped the pic.

With the baby, teaching responsibilities resuming, and the podcast this might not be practical Thanks for the pointers ESE. That's proved useful. I'm certain there are many who'd want to watch any painting tutorials you can produce, if it is practical. Obviously, trueborn commitments are priority. Maybe a new section can be added to Lower Comorragh for anyone wishing to make painting tutorials can add to for denizens to watch. I've never used airbrush paints but I've heard good things about them. Airbrushes has been one of those things I've thought about purchasing, especially for vehicles and monsters.

| Hey mate, have you got a close up of that blade?
Also, I love the amber gem! I didn't even consider that colour for gems, and now that I've done nearly every gem in my current army, I'm disappointed!

| It looks great ESE, and echoing Nexs the amber gem is so eyecatching... such a brilliant color choice. As always I love the effects on the power-weapon. The white edge highlighting is absolutely killer... such thin lines. Anyway I love it man keep up the great work your CW contingent is absolutely killer. | |

I painted an amber gem on my first Spiritseer for the army and really liked it. I sneak them in where I can. As far as the blade closeup, I'm not all that happy with it but may be able to snap a shot later after I get these two vehicles done. - darkmark wrote:

Thanks! My daughter pretty awesome and even lets me paint every once in a while I am seriously cutting it close with the August vow. My airbrush finally made me rage-quit hobby table flip. A buddy of mine let me use a couple of his, I think I know which one I'm buying next!

You know, that colour scheme would look amazing on Dark Elder. Speaking of Dark Elder, why you no paint them more?!
