| I mentioned it in my own thread, but I'll reiterate here: this is one of my favorite Dark Eldar armies I've come across. I love the Drow look so much. I love the pallet of color you employ and the modeling, and posing is just so clever. They really project a classic villain an aura. Cheers on a fantastic army. | |

| I'm very envious of your freehand skills on the sails and banners! Both you and Eye of Error are an inspiration to my Dark Eldar army, and just gets me even more pumped to work on my army. | |

| Thank you Cavalier and Alpha Ghaz! This project log really helps to keep me on track and record all of the people's ideas that I rip off I'm getting ready for an Apocalypse game in which I am bringing 5,000pts of DE and Corsairs. I have until the 23rd and still have A LOT to do. Finished these beasts today at lunch. They were the last unit that I needed for the Dark Olympiad formation: Wanted to try a different scheme that fit in with my army a bit more. I like it. Before the game I need to: Finish paint on the following- 5 Corsairs with jetpacks Corsair Prince 3 Lanceborn Paint 6 Corsair jetbikes(riders are done) Totally paint- 3 Reaver Jetbikes (2 arena champs/one heatlance) 2 Warp Hunters 1 Beastmaster Ooops, and 10 Wraithguard with Warlock | |

| Oh hell yeah. Love the beasts. I cant wait to do up some beasts of my own, I have so many ideas. I love the color choices you made, particularly the yellow eyes- very striking. Man it sounds like you have a doozy coming up in terms of hobby stuff. Do you think you'll get it done on time?
And BTW how do you like the IA Corsair rules? I never played them myself, but I wasn't thrilled after reading them. However they did seem very flexible, just not that hard hitting in any particular area. Whats your impression of them?

| Man I just bought a bunch of these guys and was trying to find a scheme that wasn't red gore. I might have to pink your idea ESE.
Looking great BTW! | |

| These are exceedingly nice.
You have done a great job of keeping the musculature prominent on the models.
I am with EOE. I think I will be borrowing this idea.

| Not very DE of you GAR... Steal his idea, and claim it as your own, don't give it back unless he forces you to at gun point (ok ESE, not ACTUALLY at gunpoint, I was speaking metaphorically!) | |

I would go at knife or venom blade point myself Thanks for the input guys. I am really happy with how they turned out. These are some of the first models that I am glad are available in Finecast. One of them is metal, the other four Finecast. With the flex of Finecast I am much less worried about the paint chipping. Not quite in the budget this month(not to mention a 5,000pt Apoc game that I'm painting for ) but I do plan on adding another 6 or so of them to go with the Clawed Fiend that I have already. I've never played with the unit in this edition, but gather from other input and game mechanic experience that these units work best in large packs. I know that it would be A LOT easier on the wallet to convert Chaos hounds, but I actually really like the Khymerae models. It really helped to just add them to the shopping cart, enter my cc information, and close my eyes when the total came up. Small update: the Beastmaster will be completed tonight The Reavers will be up next.

| Never mind, finished the Beastmaster before work: Won't have any time to get the Reavers started tonight(Valentine's Day and all), but should be able to hammer them out after work tomorrow. That will leave the Corsairs and Wraithguard for the weekend, Presidents Day/week before the 23rd. Tight, but I should atleast be able to get basecoats on all of the Corsairs. Can't wait to use the Dark Olympiad formation! | |

| Having looked though each page, it's safe to say that I am in admiration of your paintwork.
I wasn't remotely interested in using beasts, but your Khymerae have completely changed my view.

| The Kymerae are fantastic models, it's GW's blood red scheme for theme that has always jarred. Your scheme shows perfectly how great they can look in alternative colours.
Beautiful work ESE, as always.

| Thanks for the complements guys! I plan on doing an article on speeding up the painting process. Let's just say that it involves having all of your highlights pre-mixed, a wet palette, and having the brush control to use larger non-GW brushes. The smallest brush that I normally use is the equivalent of GW's Basecoat brush for the top edge highlights, though I still use a detail brush for eyes. On my crazy-stupid project of getting all of this stuff done for a 5,000pt game on the 23rd schedule I have today's goal of getting these guys done by tomorrow morning: The two Arena champions and Reaver with HL are the very last of the DE models that I have to get done for the Apoc game. It should be all Corsairs for the final week of painting. I'm hoping to follow this schedule for the week leading up to the game: Sat: 3 Reavers Sun: Complete Corsair Prince and 5 Corsairs Monday: Airbrush 2 Warp Hunters and canopies of the Corsair jetbikes Tues-Wed: finish the Corsair jetbikes Thurs-Fri: Complete 10 Wraithguard and a Warlock or two. | |

| Lanceborn done: Didn't get the 3 Reavers 100% done and didn't get much of the Corsairs done for the Apocalypse game tomorrow, but I'm looking forward to a great game. | |

Man, you Evil Space Elve! I was perfectly fine with my metal chaos hounds, and didn't want to buy such expensive models, but now I may have to take your idea of just buying them. Damn you for doing such a great work of painting them!! Damn you.. Edit: and BTW the rest of your army looks stunning too ;-) you evil....

Probably will be ordering four more next week once payday rolls around I have a Clawed Fiend that I would like to add to the pack. I've been tossing around the idea of getting another Beastmaster model and some Hellions to maybe do a hybrid conversion to make two Beastmasters(while adding to my Hellion gang). Just got done playing a 5,000pt Apoc game today and might need a couple of days to get my motivation back.

| Hi there! This may well have been covered but there are 28 pages to this thread. Firstly, incredible looking models! I've only seen the first three pages and they look great. On the first page, I love the look of all the gold you use for the guns and knee pads etc on the Warriors. Could you tell me how you've achieved this effect please? That would be awesome, many thanks. Keep up the beautiful work. | |
