Good call. The orange contrasts with the blue of the ships; going with blue and purple probably would have had the ships and bases blend into each other too much. Thanks! My wife gets all the credit. At least now there allowed to get married! Looking good ESE, I'm not sure what the "standard" aspect scheme is for these guys, but I like the blue on them. I might have gone with something warmer on the wings to make them stand out, but I'm sure you've got plans.... :-D

| Love it! Big fan of the scheme, you really incorporated the classic turquoise elements with the predominately grey color scheme very well. I actually think there is an official shrine name for the color Hawks in your colors which you may want to check out in the new dex. Anyway enjoy using them ESE, they are such a great unit. One of my favorite units to use, and they always do work. | |

Really have no idea what joke you're going for here. The first was an awkward cheap joke at the expense of others, the second was ________? Not only is this not funny and making fun at the expense of others for no damned reason, it also comes across as juvenile and immature. Be better than that. If you still don't get why using sexual orientation for jokes isn't acceptable, please read this or one of several thousand articles online that might clue you in on how to not be "that guy" online: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/steven-petrow/thats-so-gay-is-not-so-fu_b_165109.html

| You can blame my gaming group for the immature behavior. Apologies if you don't like it but I have gay friends that make worse jokes then that. There's no need for all those complaints about a person's taste in humour though. If one party doesn't like a certain type of joke then that doesn't mean another party won't. | |

The point is in a public forum you should always defer to the opinion that people may be offended. I say many many things around my friends that I would never say in a public forum or a public space, or at work. Context is key. Saying "well my friends find it funny" is missing the point entirely. Racists find racist jokes funny for example.... Doesn't mean you should say them on here. Anyways.. How do you get your colours so muted ESE? I realise thats a broad ranging questions but all your models have a wonderful realistic sort of finish to them which doesn't have that "hey I'm a painted model" vibe. I was wondering if this was a deliberate technique or just a by product of your general method of painting? Looking fab anyway, the Hawks are some of my favourite CWE models.

Saying people shouldn't be offended by something doesn't change the fact that they are. Maybe you don't care, because you don't like those people anyway. Alternatively, if you want to be able to get along with those people, you can exercise a little empathy, try to understand why, and then be more considerate in the future.

I was wondering if this was a deliberate technique or just a by product of your general method of painting? It's not a deliberate thing that I set out to do, but most of my armies have been described as being very Grimdark. I think it is a combination of two things: 1. I paint under a light that is fairly bright. Highlights look much more drastic under bright light, and I tend to blend several layers to keep the single/two color highlight effect from showing while I am looking at it under light. It has the drawback of making my models not look as good at tabletop height/better at 12" away. I've tried to break the habit for years, but in the words of the great philosopher:

While you are essentially correct you seem to be making a mistake I see happening on internet forums all the time. While these boards are made "public" in the sense that anyone can join them they are still privately owned, not public property. This means that those who own the property have the right to regulate curtain types of behavior and usually set down rules of conduct. Those same owners then have the right to revoke your privilege of being on these boards at anytime. I refer you to the board rule: - Quote :
- 4. Respect
Respect other denizens at all times. Please remember that your views are your own, and that others may not agree with them. In addition, some topics of conversation may be alright to discuss with friends in real life but are not suitable here. In the past there have been instances of members becoming uncomfortable, offended or even being driven away because of certain discussions. Please refrain from discussing sex, drugs, politics and religion.
Comments that are sexist, or racially or culturally insensitive, will not be tolerated. Please remember that some people may be offended more easily than others. Freedom of speech does not extend onto private property as the owners have the right to regulate their own property. If I come to your house and offend you, you have the right to throw me off the property, in this case I'm physically there so if I don't leave at your request/demand you can have the police remove me for trespassing. On the boards they can just ban your account. Sorry for the derail ESE. The paint job looks great, I find it painful to see your great work at times as I have some of my own painted miniatures next to my computer and find them woefully lacking. I do however look forward to seeing more of your work.

I'd genuinely be interested to see some pictures of your miniatures from a further away distance. Based on your CWE and World Eaters (which are my favourite army of yours), its difficult to imagine them not looking mightily impressive as a force from across a hall let alone from a foot away

Based on your CWE and World Eaters (which are my favourite army of yours), its difficult to imagine them not looking mightily impressive as a force from across a hall let alone from a foot away Thank you for the kind words! I am finishing up these models today (hopefully, actually playing a game today and might not be able to finish them!) and try to get a game in soon with them. I'll try to snap a pic during the game. After interviewing Woozl at the BAO we thought it would be a good idea for us to play a combined Coven force in a Santa Cruz or San Jose G3 event so that we can actually see the Carnival of Pain fielded in a game 2025pts BEFORE upgrades......

I have seen ESE's army in person - closer than 12", as well as several feet further away. I even got to hold them in my grubby little hands and push them around the tabletop for a while. Trust me, there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with the way they look at any distance!
